Hi, Jennifer, Law Enforcement Agencies attend college job fairs, public job fairs, billboards advertisement, internet advertisement, and word of mouth recruitment to recruit officers. When the world went to paperless applications, law enforcement recruiters were deprived of putting a face with an applicant. Years ago when an individual applied for law enforcement jobs, recruiters addressed the application for any errors or blanks not filled in before accepting the application. Technology has moved end and recruiting physically went out of style. Just because someone may have a higher education doesn't mean they're cut out for this line of work. I have witnessed college educated law enforcement officers who resigned from this profession considering the dangers which came with the territory of the job. …show more content…
Being in law enforcement, moreover one would have to have a certain mindset. Most of the law enforcement hires in this generation are family members of the upper brass. The recruitment process requires a post written examination, which eliminates the majority of college students; who you would think four years of criminal justice studies would qualify that individual. "The psychological appraisal can assist in identifying individuals who may not adjust well to the law enforcement profession"(Dempsey & Forst, 2016, p.120). The subjective evaluation has a great impact on recruitment and retention moreover than the physical aspect. Anyone can be trained to do law enforcement duties; not everyone can deal with the public
