Criminal Justice is a social science where people study crimes, criminals, and the criminal justice system, as well as attempt to identify and explain criminal behaviors. Majoring in criminal justice requires you to take classes such as psychology, sociology, political science, philosophy, and forensic science. Although I am not a huge fan of science, forensic science sounds interesting and reminds me of what the characters on CSI: Miami do, which makes this requirement more appealing to me. At Southwestern College, the classes that you are required to take if you are majoring in Criminal Justice are Introduction to Administration of Justice, Concepts of Criminal Law, Juvenile Law and Procedures, Legal Aspects of Evidence, a few sociology and …show more content…
above a 3.5. Although that seems like a very high grade point average, I know that it is possible if I dedicate my time and energy onto school and stay focused on getting good grades. When the USD school board decides which transfer students to accept, they pay extra attention to those who excelled in Reading, Writing, and Math. Although I am an excellent reader and writer, I do struggle in math and I know that I need to improve my math skills and get an amazing grade in math so that I become a competitive applicant and can make myself stand out amongst the other transfer applicants. For the University of California Irvine, you are required to attend community college for two years and have a G.P.A above a 3.0 and have completed at least 60 transferable units. In order to be competitive at Irvine, a G.P.A. of about 3.5-3.6 would make you stand out and would give you priority over the other applicants. For Thomas More College I do not need to take any general education classes or have a certain G.P.A. because my father is a sponsor of the school and can get me in whenever I want. I could have easily taken the easy road and gone into Thomas More because it would be free and very easy to get into but I want to get into a school by myself and work for it, I don't want to get in only because my dad had
