Intro: Criminal justice system has been looked at one of the main reasons to feel safe to prevent crimes from happening and making the community or country a better place. There are many countries with different structures of their law enforcement some are stricter, reliable and better than others and some may be worse than others may not show results in the community. For this paper I will be focusing on the criminal justice system of Mexico and how they are set up and how things work in this country. Mexico is a huge country and there is so many people and places to deal with. Every country has their defect and their strong abilities in certain section and Mexico for being one of the largest countries in Central America has a unique criminal justice system in some good ways and in some bad.

In the large country of Mexico one of the most known country in the world the police is divided into several types of police forces with different responsibilities. There are 31 states in Mexico and have one federal district. There are many corrupt cops in Mexico and they are controlled by the cartels the cartels threatened police officer to join them and just in general the drug war is what causes this to happen(Ginger Thompson, July 5,2005). Then the training for the policies are poor and for the preventive police most do not need minimum educational requirement. Basic training lasts an average of 4.5 months. Majority of Mexican police officers have completed only elementary school or even less (Raems B., 05/15/2003). according to the document Police Forces in Mexico: A Profile “Police departments often lack: tools to evaluate job performance, guidelines for performance, methods to ferret out corruption, technical support, and understanding of human rights and community relations.” which is scary because these people are the ones the public looks for as safety but a survey was done in 1999 and found that 90% of the people who responded in Mexico City had “little” or “no” trust at all in the police(Raems B.,05/15/2003).
