Reflection on Discussion
I think that a lot of the news that we see is about male’s police officers that do not always do the most ethical things. The male police officers usually get a bad wrap about how they have to follow the rules and if they do not they get punished, but when women do it it’s a different story. I think that Americans and probably most other countries have a stigma that males cant be a victim domestic assault because they are suppose to be strong. When women assault males, I feel like they are hesitant to come forward because of the fear that people will judge or that they will be less manly.

Many of the students were in agreement on what should be done with the officer, if suspension should be enough or if she should be let go. I think one of the most insightful parts of this specific discussion was when people would share the kind of experience they have had so far in the professions. For example the first question that everyone answered was bout if men and women receive the same punishment or even get in trouble all together. Everyone had similar views but the reason that has those views is completely different for everyone.
One thing that I learned during this assignment was about how states are completely different, I knew coming into this assignment that Minnesota is probably one of the best states when it comes to law enforcement officers. Minnesota officers have more training and education than most. I am unsure about the education and training requirements that police officers face in Pennsylvania but it seems like it is much less than in Minnesota. I was surprised when I read about how it happened once before so the charges are dropped but her bosses didn’t look into it
