I interviewed law enforcement employee Officer Stacy Kenan, she specializes in Crime Scene Investigation at the Tustin Police Department. She and six other members respond to crime scenes to collect, document, and take pictures of the evidence. Once the evidence is collected, they book it to the Property Department.
Then, the investigator will send certain items to the crime lab to be tested for DNA, fingerprints and to test for narcotics in the found blood samples. However, The Tustin Department does not have a crime lab so they send it to the Orange County Crime Lab because they run all forensics in the county. Depending on the type of case, it takes 6 months for evidence to be processed. When the lab has the results, they send it back to
