Criminal Investigation Career

The career that interest me the most is Criminal Investigation. Criminal investigation can be a very unique line of work. I have always been interested in criminal law. For a while, I was not sure of the exact line of work with criminal law I was interested in. I started doing research and found that criminal investigation, interested me more than most. There are several aspects of criminal investigation that draw my attention, such as, the justification of doing the right thing. For this reason, I plan to attend college and earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal investigation. While in school there are many internships available through the FBI that I plan to apply for. These internships will build my knowledge and experience as well as, give me a slight insight into my future line of work. After I obtain my bachelor’s degree, I plan to apply for a job with the FBI. There are positions you can acquire from a certification, associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, doctoral degree, and also a PHD. Some examples of positions with a certification are cybercrimes, security, administration, and many others. On the other hand, with an associate’s degree there are the options of crime scene technology, applied science in computer security, computer network security and forensics, etc. With a bachelor’s degree, doctorate degree, or PHD you are open to many positions in this workforce. The competencies listed by the FBI for individuals interested in working as an agent are analytical thinking, flexibility, adaptability, initiative, motivation, interpersonal ability, judgment and decision making skills, organizing, planning, and also prioritizing. Along with mental capabilities, there are also physical requirements that must be met.
