Abstract
Stalking is a very serious and dangerous matter all over the world today. They’re a lot of types of stalking that go on all around the world today that can lead to many other serious crimes. Other crimes that stalkers can eventually result from stalking vary anywhere from sexual contact, to murders and many other crimes. All types of stalking have a little different meaning to them and all have different forms as the way the stalkers approach them. Stalking was actually not a crime until California was the first state to make it a law back in 1990 when they passed the anti-stalking law, which was prompted by several high-profile celebrity stalking and murder cases. By the year 2000 all states as well as many government agencies and countries have made stalking a crime. Stalking is not a rare crime. Up to 16 percent of women and 7 percent of men report to having been stalked sometime in their life, and this number may approach 20 percent of college undergraduates (Haugaard & Seri, 2003) Almost all stalking situations come from someone somebody knows from pre-existing family relationships, followed by work, friendships, or nonromantic family relationships with stranger stalking being the lest common. It can become very creepy for the victim at the other end because this type of typology just keeps on going. Surveillance tactics are when a stalker follows this person around, takes photos and videos, breaks into their mailbox, hacks into her internet account, and does many other things that can be an invasion of privacy. Physical aggression and violence is usually the most severe and can also be very lethal for the victim involved.
