I decided what career path I would take 15 years ago, when I was seven- most children dream of being an astronaut or a princess, but I have always wanted to be a lawyer. Although it has not been an easy road, I am finally on the right path, working towards a degree in law, in the hopes of becoming a practising barrister.

Due to being in the same job for the last four years, I was out of practice in terms of how to conduct myself in interviews. I was determined to find a job, to help myself financially and to develop my skills for the future. I secured myself an interview relatively quickly, but this did not go well.
During the interview, I was asked some competency based questions, which I had no previous experience with. I was clearly unprepared as I stumbled through the questions, which made me look nervous and like I did not really want the job. I thought my experience as a bartender alone would be enough and did not think about the repercussions of not preparing for the interview.
Since I really needed a job, I persevered and continued applying and handing out CVs. From this, I secured two further interviews and I knew that I had to do something different to have a chance at getting either of the jobs. I set myself a goal to prepare for the interviews, researching the companies and potential interview questions. I was able to practice the interview questions with my housemates and I felt confident as I was more
