Alternatively, rapid modification had become the overall condition: stability was in jeopardy. The society was growing therefore the previous old vertical ties of deference (old police) were weakened. Hence, the stability of the social hierarchy was highly vulnerable. Taken to its fullest extreme, however, privatization entails private-sector control over all the decisions regarding the use of resources devoted to the protection of persons and property” (N.D., 2016).…

Crime rates had continued to vary over time, reaching a peak, however, during the twentieth century, between the 1970s and 1990s. Over the most recent decades, crime rate have continuously declined and continue to do so today. If this holds true, then why is it exactly that we as a nation continue to invest billions of dollars into the criminal justice system each year to only have the prison population continue to grow? A major reasoning for this increase in the prison population growth has come from the get tough policies and harsher prison sentences that have been enforced in result of President Nixon declaring a “War on Drugs” in June of 1971.…
Unit One Assignment: 1. Criminal justice is the complex network of specific government agencies all working to cultivate the levels of crime. The justice system is organized into three sovereign parts- the police, the courts, and corrections. For this system to be effective and lucrative, the system must always be attracting valuable people to make the system function properly. In the 1980s, there were numerous murders and missing individuals in different cities of British Columbia, and the police were puzzled for a period of time as to who the murder was. The murder, Clifford Olson, pledged guilty for his crimes after substantial time had passed. The childhood of Olson may provide support for why he committed such crimes. Clifford Robert Olsen was from Vancouver, British Columbia, and he was born on January 1st, 1940 (Mulgrew, 2011). Although Olson did not face any abuse from his parents, he was known to be an aggressive child.…
The U.S. CJS attempts to decrease criminal behavior through a wide variety of uncoordinated and sometimes uncomplimentary efforts. Each system component police, courts, and corrections has varying degrees of responsibility and discretion for dealing with crime. Often a federal, state, or local system component fails to engage in any coordinated planning effort; hence, relations among and between these elements are often characterized by friction, conflict, and deficient communication are stifled (Peak, pg, 5). Many individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system experience social problems that are contributing factors to crime and criminal justice system involvement. Policy analysis originates from the record, reports, and measurements reexamined and how to enhance or decrease the current factual numbers. In a general situation, arrangements are broke down by execution. Any new situation opens an entryway for further policy reevaluations and possible improvement.…
Imagine the constraints of being employed within the criminal justice sector. The many demands on such limited resources. The harsh realities of limited, vertical progression. Drug addiction is the root of crime in the United States, in a 1997 report 80% of State inmates reported past drug use reported by Chris Mumola (1999). If the criminal justice system could reduce the number of people abusing drugs, it would reduce not only drug related crimes, but would reduce the amount of all crimes. A reduction in crime would result in a safer and more productive society. Without changing how the criminal justice system views drug addiction we will never see a significant decrease in the crime rate across the United States.…

The environmental factor that makes the disproportion valid, stems from the neighborhoods in which almost thirty percent of the black community grows up.…
The crime rate in California has been on the rise and with the "Three-Strikes Law", our state prison system has been greatly impacted. It is difficult to grasp that our state has the largest prison population in the country and the second highest in the world. With an increasingly diminished budget and the privatization of prisons, the system has become more focused on punishment rather than rehabilitation. Fifty-seven percent of California inmates are serving under determinate sentences for non-violent crimes such as, burglary, grand theft auto, auto theft, and drug offenses ranging from possession of rock cocaine to sale of marijuana.
