Other factors that can be closely linked to criminal behavior are personality traits and disorders. Many of the well-known disorders or traits are ODD, which is characterized by irritability, and argumentativeness these can be found in early childhood. ADHD is a hyperactive disorder that is known to be the inability to focus on one thing. Conduct disorder is when an individual violates social rules or norms that others don’t usually break. Environment can either play a big role in the actions of a criminal, or a small role. It really just depends on what type of environment they grew up in. Most of the influences on criminal behavior come from the home that they grew up in. From parental neglect, sexual abuse, and parenting skills. These are the main factors that lead to aggressive behavior in the child’s future. Are Genetics to Blame? Studies have been performed since the 1960’s looking at chromosomes of criminals and chromosomes of non-criminals. They have come to find that the XYY patterns were more thought to show anti-social and aggressive behavior. They scanned newborns, juvenile delinquents, and adults with and without criminal behavior.
