Crimes and Misdemeanors, according to Conard’s article, poses a lot of important questions about the meaning of life and the existence of God. He begins his article by stating the plots of the two lives being shown in the movie. Americans today live in a country overflowing with more prisoners than ever, yet crime has been dropping since the late twentieth century. In fact, from 1980 to 2008, the number of people incarcerated in America quadrupled from about 500,000 to 2.3 million people (Criminal 1). There are several factors contributing to this problem. In recent years, America has taken new approaches to crime, such as the “War On Drugs” and the “Three Strikes” law. These approaches have drastically increased the prison population, to the point that 1 in 31 adults, or 3.2% of the population, will spend some time in prison in their lifetime (ibid).…

If juveniles are capable of committing adult crimes then they are capable of doing adult time. Provided that juveniles be let off the hook, there would be no justice for the victim, nor would the public society be safe.…

If you have a record from juvenile court, you might be able to clear your record by using your state’s procedures to expunge (seal, or sometimes destroy) that record (Portman, 2014.) Once your record is expunged, in most situations it’s treated as if it never happened (Portman, 2014.) When questioned by potential landlords, employers, some licensing agencies and others, you can legitimately say that you were never arrested or found by a judge to be a delinquent juvenile (Portman, 2014.) Expunging your record may not universally remove the consequences of having been found to be a juvenile delinquent, however (Portman, 2014.)…
