Crime Victim Assistance

The victim assistance programs aim at providing a crime victim with information and resources to assist in breaking through barriers. The crime victim assistance constitute of financial assistance whereby the crime victim can file a claim for expenses incurred and that are related to crime. Financial resources include the emergency funds that are made available for covering all emergency expenses that are related to crime. Crime victim assistance also constitutes of crime victim notification system whereby the crime victim is notified of the rights he or she is entitled to. These rights include the rights to participation, protection, and compensation among others. The victim assistance also includes the victim brochure which contains information such as Crime Rights Coping with Victimization, Restitution, Tips on testifying and post-conviction issues among others (Dean, and Stuart, 2015). This program covers the victims and their families’ expenses that they incur as a result of the crime. This assistance includes the expenses on medical and dental expenses. It also covers the expenses that the victim and their families may incur in the process of counseling to solve their psychological trauma as a result of the crime. The program also covers the funeral or burial expenses which may have been contributed directly or indirectly by the crime to the victim or their family members. The program gives support of the wage lost by the victim as a result of a crime. The crime compensation program covers two parties namely the victim, the person who is directly affected by the crime and the family of the victim.
