First off, there are two types of manslaughter: Voluntary and Involuntary. The difference between them is that voluntary manslaughter is killing someone intentionally without forethought or malice. Involuntary on the other hand is killing someone unlawfully without forethought or malice. In “Kids are kids - Until they Commit Crimes” by Marjie Lunderstom, she wrote “ On March 9th, Lionel Tate - who was 12 when he savagely beat to death a six-year old girl - will likely learn if he must spend life in prison after his lawyer unsuccessfully tried to put pro-wrestling on trial”, Since Tate was supposedly imitating a “pro-wrestler”, he knew the dangers of the sport and chose to practice on someone weak and half his age putting her in danger. Relating to this, another teenager named Thomas Preciado ‘mimicked’ a t.v show about two girls robbing a bank. Thomas stabbed a mini mart clerk to death at the age of 14. Based off these two articles, one can see that these two teens knew what they were doing because they were both enacting something they saw.
For the reasons above, I believe teenagers should be tried as adults because of the fact that they knew what they were doing. They had the time to think about the consequences and what they were doing, but still chose to act upon
