On 11/15/16 at approximately 12:30 pm, I was dispatched to the CSC classroom A013 to investigate a report of an unattended death. I was assigned to sketch the crime scene and collect fingerprint evidence. The first thing I did was I sketched the crime scene. I had noted was that the blood splatter directly below the head of the body was approximately thirteen feet from the North wall and about four feet ten inches from the East wall. My partner Caesar tested the blood with a hemastick and found it was positive for blood. He also took a blood swab from the blood below the body’s head, and took a control sample from the area outside of the blood splatter. He then properly packaged this evidence and submitted it to the evidence vault custodian. My other partner Brooke also took a close up picture of the body …show more content…
Caesar had also tested the hammer to find that it also tested positive for blood. This was then probably packaged by Caesar and submitted to the evidence vault custodian. This give a higher possibility that the hammer was used on the body. My other partner Brooke had also taken a close up photo of the hammer (see photo 3) taken at a ninety-degree angle facing East. I then noted that the dusty shoe print was located approximately seven feet five inches from the East wall and three feet five inches from the hammer. Brooke was the one who had found the shoe impression on the carpet. She then lifted the impression from the carpet, properly packaged it, and summited it to the evidence vault custodian. She had also taken two close up photos of the shoe impression. Both of the shoe impression photos were taken at ninety-degrees, one facing North (see photo 2), and one facing South (see photo 6). Lastly, in my sketch I had noted that the fingerprint was found approximately one foot six inches from the cabinet to the door of the classroom on the West

After analyzing the results to this experiment, it was agreed that the blood droplets at the crime scene fell from roughly three feet high. Furthermore, the drops were circular which led the experimenters to believe that they fell from a 90 degree angle. Additionally, the droplets were patterned in a line next to Anna’s head. Along with the matching blood types, an observation was made that the droplets of blood led to a pool of blood around Anna’s head and which solidifies the evidence that the blood found is…

Shoeprint analysis was conducted by Geary Kanaskie of the FBI. Analysis of Brown’s Fila running shoes showed they were the same size as the prints recovered from the scene and the top of the shoeprint matched those in the house. An FBI serologist, Joe Errera, tested the shoes for blood. He stated that the right shoe came up clean but the left shoe tested positive for blood during chemical testing (Sherwood, 1997). Errera mentioned that while the test came up positive on the right shoe, the environmental interactions that took place in the removal of the stain on the left shoe can affect the test to the point where it cannot detect blood.…

The victim was only 25 years old, cause of death was due to an acute poison in the victim’s drink. We had to prove the defendant committed the heinous act, and I was feeling pretty confident as I walked into the room and stood in front of the pleasant mahogany desks. The defendant did do it, all the evidence pointed to it. Pretty straightforward, or so it would seem from an outsider’s point of view. But I knew better, Sharpe knew better, Finch knew better.…

The discipline of forensic science has been under fire for quite some time now, and one can say that it is completely justified. Fraudulent and incompetent analysts, such as Annie Dookhan, have performed investigations in flawed crime labs, like that of the Baltimore crime lab, and through this process, have imprisoned the innocent, just as Cameron T. Willingham was falsely convicted. Issues occurred in all of these instances that allowed for the devaluing of the field of forensic science. If a lab is faulty or fraudulent, it is likely for the analysts who work within it to be flawed as well, as the two are essentially a team.…
