For the three years we had together, we were flower girls for a lady’s wedding who went to our church. Then Christmas came, and my parents got me my first science kit. Oh, I was so happy I couldn’t control it. The kit had a microscope, a real scalpel, prepped slides and slides that I can make. I played for hours with it, I even made my own blood slide with the help of my dad of course. So it was safe to say that this sparked my passion for science.
All during high school, I made it my priority to do amazing in all things science. One day during high school we had a chance to job shadow with where we wanted to possibly have our careers in. I chose to do a ride along with the deputy sheriff who told my mom, who knew her from when she worked for the police department as a dispatcher, that I might be able to go to a crime scene. So while we were out riding around, a call comes over that there was a crime scene that needed to be looked over. You better believe I was excited, I was as excited as a dog with his head hanging out of the car window. When senior year came, my mom and I knew that together we were not going to be able to pay for me to go to college. So I then decided to join the military, but it didn’t last that long because I got discharged for asthma.
