By taking Intro to Crime and Justice, my plan is to decide if the Criminal Justice System is a path I want to go down. I hope to learn how the justice system works and how it is evolving and changing. Laws that were relevant one hundred years ago may no longer be relevant in present day. It seems like multiple nitty gritty laws are being made and put into effect, but for what? How is it that America has opened more prisons than colleges and universities in the past fifty years? Media also has a big impact on how we view the system as well. The media is very biased. News stations choose to report stories they feel are necessary knowledge to the public. Most cases, the stories are about homicides. Since all we ever here are “this person that was killed and that person that was killed,” we are trained to believe that the majority of crimes being committed are crimes that result in death.
