Although they are both very popular bat-and-ball games, baseball is more enjoyable because it is easy to understand. Baseball is most commonly played in the western hemisphere. Some countries baseball is played in is the United States, Canada, China, Mexico, and more. Cricket is played mostly in the eastern hemisphere. England, Canada, Australia, India, and others are countries cricket is played in. The terminology is the same in both sports, however, they differ in their equipment, field, players, and umpires. They key concept in both baseball and cricket is to hit a ball and score more points than the other team. However, they both have different names for their players. On one pitch, a team can score four points if the bases are loaded and the batter hits a homerun in baseball. Assuming a legal delivery, a team can get six points on one bowl in cricket. A baseball game is typically nine innings. If teams are tied, they will go into extra innings. There are multiple different game times for cricket. One of the more popular types of games is a One Day International, ODI, and usually lasts for seven hours. Another type of game is the T20, it typically lasts three hours. Similar to the baseball, a cricket ball has a core made out of cork. What differs a cricket ball from a baseball is that a cricket ball is tightly wound with string. The ball is then covered in a certain color of leather for the correct match it is being used in. Red leather is for day matches, pink leather is for day/night matches, and white leather is for limited-over matches. The legal weight for a cricket ball is five and a half ounces to five and three-fourths ounces. With a circumference of nine inches, the cricket ball is slightly smaller than a baseball. In baseball, players are allowed a glove for defense. If needed, they can wear headgear or padding. The catcher is required to wear a glove, shin guards, chest protector, and helmet with a wire face shield. Batters are only required to wear a helmet, but can wear batting gloves.
