The film made me think about some difficult events and traumas I went through my childhood and how they have affected me growing up. The scene where Ana and her sisters were reenacting possibly an event where their parents argued stood out to me because as a child we tend to remember when our parents have discussions. I do not know why, but those events follow us through our childhood and that scene was cute, but at the same time sad because Ana and her sisters represent the theme of death, but specifically of emotional death. Overall, I enjoyed the film because I was able to make a personal connection to the story and Ana. The film depicts the sad reality of a misguided and lost childhood, which many children still experience today. To conclude, director Carlos Saura was successful in illustrating the theme of death, and emphasizing emotional death through Ana to formulate a depressing and serious mood and dark
