My expectation before going to CREW I had a lot of anxiety because my biggest phobia is a snake, I was so worried I was going to see one while we visited Crew. I was very tense as we left from FGCU. As we arrived CREW I was so nervous with the outdoor walk. The CREW tour guide was very excited to let us know how CREW started and why is benefits Southwest Florida. In addition, The CREW Land & Water Trust was the first public and private partnership approach to an ecosystem-based acquisition project in the US something that I didn’t know until I visited CREW and learned from our tour guide.
I quickly learned from the guide what CREW acronym means Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed. As we enter CREW she was able to show us a map the location of CREW, and the land that is acquired which is around 60 thousand acres of land that represent the largest watershed intact in Southwest Florida. To the left are picnic tables and to the right is a beautiful flowing creek filled with different animals, plants, and mosses and sometimes quartz crystals. I remember being able to see the fish as they swim underneath the icy cold water because the water is pure and crystal clear- it was not contaminated by human filth. This paper is supposed to be about choosing a group of people and making observations about them so I decided to write about the observations I made when I got to my first US Naval Ship after United States Navy boot camp. I chose to write about my observations of sailors because while we were in class talking about anthropology and relating it to society, I saw a lot of parallels and realized a lot of anthropology terms can be used to describe the microcosm of the United States Navy. My first ship was CVN 71 USS Theodore Roosevelt; it is an aircraft career which has a crew of approximately 5000 sailors. First thing I noticed, there was a sense of belonging among these sailors as they have all gone through the acculturation process that happens when you get to a new ship. Being the…

Almost four years ago, I entered Clackamas High School as a confused, shy, awkward freshman. Soon after entering the hallways of this school, I was assigned to a Freshman Assurance group and met with the group leaders. My group leaders were vivacious seniors, who were condescending and gave very little advice on high school. I felt a little intimidated by them, and the activities that they led made most of the freshmen in our group uncomfortable. They told us about their craziest stories and about the teachers who weren't of the most pleasant experience.…

Observation During the IMH visit, the first thing that struck me was how patient the staff was. During the Let’s Dance activity, they repeated themselves a few times but never got annoyed or displayed frustration. Throughout the visit, they were all pleasant and uncomplaining. My family and I have visited Brackenridge Park for many years now, beginning from a time where my line of vision extended only a few feet off the ground to the beginning of my time at university. Granted, my height might not have changed much, but time certainly has. Brackenridge Park easily surpassed the dreaded McAllister Park (dreaded because as a child, I hated nothing more than spending hours walking through the never-ending park in the middle of the burning heat that Satan himself would have gladly called his home) as my family’s go-to park. Even now as I sit here in the grass in a secluded area underneath a tree, I cannot help but think of my relationship with this park, a park who, like my parents, has watched as I grew up to become…
