he play Antigone, written by Jean Anuoilh, follows the life of Antigone the daughter of the late Oedipus. She had been warned by her Uncle Creon that no one has permission to bury her brother, Polynices, yet she ignores his wishes and gets caught in the act by three guards. Antigone say “And what a person can do, a person ought to do.” (Anouilh 32). She did what she had the potential of doing to retribute her brother one last time. By the end of the play readers discover that Antigone is an impulse character. She doesn’t thoroughly think any of her actions. She believes that the right thing to do to honor her brother, who she didn’t know very well, was to against Creon’s wishes and bury him just because she could, and maybe not get caught.
