Creekview Intermediate Mission Statement

I learned from Molly Balch that there is not much history for Creekview Intermediate as it was only built 15 years ago in 2000-2001. The first class to attend Creekview was in 2001-2002 (personal communication, October 05, 2015). Creekview Intermediate’s mission statement is to Innovate, Collaborate and Inspire according to their webpage. The school is committed to all the students and will appreciate their full potential. The district believes a pledge to excellence and curiosity advances students who are ready to learn. They care for the community as well and know that they play an important part. Collaboration is a big part for both the school and community as each strengthen each other. The school sees dreams as raising opportunities that …show more content…
It’s a school open to any students who wishes to attend it. This school is also accepting open enrollment for students from other school districts. Descriptions of the organization in this school would include, Google Docs. Almost 80% of my emails are saved in Google Docs from teachers to board directors. They use this system so others can be on the same doc at the same time while editing the work. They also have filing cabinets where the keep all the students information. The Marysville Board of Education has five total members. The President of the Board of Education is Sue Devine and the Vice-President is Ed Pleasant (Marysville Schools, 2015). For Creekview Intermediate the Principle is Tim Kannally and the Vice-Principal is Ryan Ferriman. Molly Balch and Angela Dillahunt are the guidance counselors and these are the staff that I work with most. There really isn’t a role of social work in this school now but I think that it would definitely be something the school would benefit from. The guidance counselors handle anything that a social worker may handle. They do the referrals and talk with students, parents, staff and families about problems they may be having in the school. They have a list of agencies and information about places in the community that can be helpful to the staff, students, parents or families. They are the closest thing to a social worker in the …show more content…
D.A.R.E is to help the students stay drug free. It helps educate them on drugs and how it can hurt their bodies. Drugs are unfortunately in a lot of these kids’ lives because of the lives their parents chose to live. With this program they hope to help the children overcome what their parents couldn’t and be drug free. Lunch Bunch is where a group of students get to sit with a teacher and have lunch together. These students are students who are struggling in class or having a difficult time making friends. Breakfast with Buddies is where the parents or even grandparents of the student can come in and spend a little extra time with their child. Response to Intervention (RTI) is for those students with learning and behavior needs. RTI is for early identification and to support them. Then there’s positive behavioral intervention and supports also known as PBIS. This is to enhance academic and social behavior outcomes for the students. With this they are focusing on learning about leadership, organizing and study skills. Creekview determines how effective these programs/services are by fewer office referrals related to behaviors. The teachers are not sending their students to the office as much with the help of these
