Based from all of these, I deduced that the Old testament is a redemptive history. In it, I think God effectively directed mankind 's history with the end goal of redeeming those whom have sinned against him, and bringing them closer to him. Oswalt, book The Bible Among the Myths begins with the assertion of how unique the Christian-biblical worldview of ancient stories is a myth and that Jesus Christ is not real no more than Zeus or Osiris being real. How To Read The Jewish Bible, authored by biblical scholar, and professor, Marc Zvi Brettler, is an enlightening text, guiding people on how to read the Hebrew scriptures in a more purposeful way. Brettler reveals that this book provides a response to the frustration many readers hold with the Hebrew Bible, based on the accustomed tendency to filter it through the lens of present day culture. Generally, he argues, as a result this leads one to either misconstrue passages, or the arrive to the definitive conclusion that the Bible holds no value within our contemporary era and therefore, as a whole, is irrelevant and should just collect dust. Written as a general introduction to the Hebrew Bible, Brettler designedly provides a neutral approach to aid readers of all backgrounds to find deeper…

The books that I chose to read for this assignment were The Year of Living Biblically by A.J Jacobs, and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I also chose to listen to “Letting Go of God” by Julia Sweeney. The two that I am choosing to focus on are The Year of Living Biblically and “Letting Go of God” because after reading and listening to them, I feel that there is a lot to compare and contrast and that I learned a lot in the differences in their two situations. I really enjoyed how both authors kept a little comedy in each of their stories. It kept it easy to listen to/read. If I were to listen to a woman talk about her transition to Atheism or a man’s year of living the bible literally, it would have been extremely boring.…

The universal integrity of biblical writings have established rational justification of what we read in the Bible today. The claims of the Bible have been observed and verified to be true. It is true that some miracles in the Bible are recorded outside of scripture, and by people who were not sympathetic to Christianity. The writings of Flavius Josephus also confirm the Bible in numerous detail.…

For as long as it has existed, historians, philosphers, scientists, and everyone in between have questioned the credibility of the New Testament's account of the life of Jesus Christ. Athiests, agnostics, and Christians alike all doubt the feasability of the events depicted in the New Testament. 2In a world where science rules, it is unsurprising the events depicted in the Bible would be scoffed at by many, shrugged off as absurd. Others question how a book can last centuries in human hands without the story it tells being altered. 3Undoubtably, there is immense doubt as to the reliability of the Gospels, whether or not Jesus was in fact the son of God, and how it could be possibly for Jesus to have risen from the dead.…

I can trust it, because God has told Christians that we must treat the Word with utmost care. Those few corrupt copies are due to laziness or a lack of respect for the Word. The author of the article, Reasons to Question the Reliability of Scripture, wrote on the basis of trying to disprove or question the reliability of the New Testament by providing multiple arguments against the idea that the oral history of Luke and the other NT authors could be accurate. While I have an answer for all, I’m going to focus on a few that I believe are the most important to help clear up a basis for historical evidence before ever going into faith or Christianity as a theology. The two main arguments I’m going to respond to are the authors beliefs about the failings of human memory, capability and perception of oral tradition, as well as to try to help the author to distinguish between minor and major details relevance levels…

I do not have a great knowledge of the bible. I am familiar with the main stories taught in Sunday school and the stories that my family told me, however I know very little about the Old Testament. I am able to recall many of the main stories as well as a few chapters in the Old Testament, but I would say that my knowledge is strongly lacking. My main knowledge of the Old Testament is there are many prophets, holy figures, and foreshadowing for what Jesus will be like when he comes. Some parts of the Bible confuse me and make me question how people cannot believe God although I feel that this is just the way, we as humans, have always been.…
