My top 5 skill include: creativity, dependability, flexibility, budgeting, and negotiating. I chose creativity because apart from being one of my skills, it is very important to me. In an unorthodox way my creativity helps me create goals and plans for myself when past ones have proven unsuccessful. I think creativity reminds me why I am alive, it helps to inspire me and excite me for the future. I chose dependability because this is something that I am very good at. I am proud to say that whatever I am pursuing, is done well. This has helped me to gain confidence in myself. No matter what the other circumstances, I remain sure that the task at hand is done thoroughly and efficiently. I think this also helps to make me more successful in the …show more content…
I have found that when you remain flexible and low-maintenance you become much more pleasant to associate with. You become easier to approach especially with life’s dilemmas. I think that is a great thing to claim, that even in the face of adversity you achieve your goals. I chose budgeting because this is a skill that will always be significant. Budgeting has proven me successful because it shows that I am responsible. This skill is helpful in many different environments including: work, school, home etc. Being good at budgeting proves that I have good judgement and good control. I know when things are necessary and when they are just a temporary desire. I chose negotiating because this skill helps me greatly in the social environment. Negotiating is a good skill because it shows that you are selfless and compliant. It shows that you will continue to use good judgement even if your ego has to be temporarily sacrificed. Being able to negotiate shows that you are willing to compromise and make a smart decision for the good of the company. It even shows that you value friendships more than you value being …show more content…
I chose delegating because this might be the biggest thing that I need to work on. Sometimes when I am really passionate or really good at something it becomes difficult for me to let others help me. As previously stated, I expect near perfection and have a hard time trusting others to give me that result. I can develop this by learning to trust people and by accepting results that are less than perfect. Perfection isn’t realistic. I chose dominant because when I am not in a position of power I have difficulty standing up for myself. I can develop this skill by recognizing when I have reached my limits and vocalizing it. Again, I cannot always expect perfection. I chose energetic because I have difficulty being optimistic and I have difficulty letting myself enjoy things. I can achieve this by learning to only vocalize my positive thoughts and by trying to enjoy the experience. I chose risk-taking because I am definitely a planner. I definitely think about every possible negative outcome before making a decision. I can do this by again trying to be more optimistic. Thinking about the positive outcomes instead of the bad will help make decision making easier for me. I chose questioning because sometimes I don’t like to admit when I need help. I tend to push myself to the breaking point because again, I expect perfection. I can improve on this by telling myself and

A weakness that I have is that I do not know how to say no to individuals that ask me for help since I love to help people. It is important that I learn to say no when helping others gets in the way of me accomplishing my tasks. It is important that I do both, but not when I run the risk of not meeting my deadlines and me staying late hours after work to get my work done. It has not been an easy task saying no, but I am learning to be okay with saying no because it is important that it does not interfere with my responsibilities.…

Upon completing the StrengthsFinder survey, it is determined my 5 greatest strengths are the learner, achiever, competition, strategic, and relator, all of which I expected (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). While reading the text I examined the various themes of different strengths, relating closely to the 5 assigned by the survey, I am impressed by how well the explanations were written in the book, Strengths Quest Second Edition. The text in correlation with the materials provided from the StrengthsFinder survey brought forth meaning and depth into finding out exactly the type of person I am. Learning is listed as my top strength in the survey (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). I believe I have used that trait extensively throughout…

I may need to conduct emotional care by building affiliation and emotional connection to prevent an emotional crisis like the result of our 1985 negotiation. Additionally, I may also adopt new approaches for the new situation and be cautious about overdependence on the past experience and overusing a particular strategy in my future negotiation. Finally, I learned that negotiation is kind of fun to do by experiencing it, although some of our negotiation went wrong. Especially, our “good cop-bad cop” acting was hilarious.…
