Creativity Flow Book Report

Reading the book Creativity flow and the psychology of discovery and invention was an eye-opening experience. All though, it was repetitive and dull at times, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi manages to fill the book with extremely insightful and thought-provoking ideas on life. He continually managed to shift gears from a slow pacing book to an Awakening masterpiece. That was a first for me because I usually hate slow books. If you also want to be proven wrong that slow and dull books can have a lot of meaning, then I suggest you read Creativity flow and the psychology of discovery and invention. Trust me you won't regret it.
I talked earlier about how the book was extremely insightful and thought-provoking, but that's not its only strength. It also was really good at saying how your Surroundings play a part in your creative ideas as well. A key example of this is when he is talking about the American education system. Kids today are being forced to learn subjects that are not relative towards their daily life. That means if you hate what you are learning not only does your brain suffer your creativity will decrease. Another awesome case of Mihaly using thought-provoking ideas is

You are correct, but before you start running towards your nearest bookstore there are some downfalls you should know. First of all this book has a lot of filler. A prime example of that occurs on page three hundred and fifty-six when he is talking about the phraseology of how to use psychic energy more effectively. Honestly, I was lost when he started talking about that. He could have benefited from shortening the book a few pages. That way the reader could get straight to the point and not have to go through the boring parts. If he did shorten the book would we be talking about the truth bombshells as much? I personally think it was intentional and should teach you that in life some of the most beautiful things are worth waiting

As I read the Woods Runner, I noticed many elements of the story that made it more engaging and easier for the audience to follow along. It was due to these elements that I found the Woods Runner to be an entertaining novel. The story takes place during the time of the Revolutionary War. Samuel, a thirteen year old boy, who lives on a settlement in Pennsylvania discovered his parents had been kidnapped after an attack on their home.…

Since a young age, I have never enjoyed books with a happy go lucky feel or a fairy tale ending. One of my favorite books as a child was Charlotte’s Web, because there wasn’t a predictable resolution where everyone was content. It built a realistic feel as opposed to a story like Frindle, where everything seems to work out well between the characters and everyone is satisfied. Going into middle school, I found myself drawn to mystery novels because of the unknown factor, nothing is expected about a mystery. During the first week of my freshman year of high school, Ms. Arnett brought our class to the school library at the end of what seemed like an excruciatingly long class period.…

“Creativity is the brain's invisible muscle -- that when used and exercised routinely -- becomes better and stronger” (Ormon, 2016). A good fictional story depends on the writer's ability to create imagery for the reader, which allows them to experience it through their own senses. Each cortex of an individual's brain exhibits an important function in every action, feeling, and reaction that the person experiences. In the readings, "Is Creativity Sexy? The Evolutionary Advantages of Artistic Thinking" and "Your Brain on Fiction", Sam McNerney and Annie Murphy Paul discuss how creativity plays a role in the stimulation of the senses.…

After reading your work from Essay Workshop and Advanced Creative Nonfiction, the subject matter is expected and concerned with reaching beyond what some might only see as simple, ugly, or undesirable. The specificity of your intention in examining Clarion and its culture is articulated well and with confidence. I think your plan on having the narrative told out of chronological order, showcasing scenes of the past, present, and eventually one in the future is a wonderful creative choice for this kind of nonfiction piece. The creative possibilities in such a technique I think will showcase and juxtapose growth, tone, and character development within the characters and the setting itself throughout the narrative in an effective and profound way that could be lost if simply left linear. The non-chronological order is much more ambitious and circular in how the chapters and character beats relate to one another on a thematic and personal level.…

Before I read this book I never truly thought the way that you think could actually change so much about how you work. I know that we all learn and think differently but I have been taught that nobody has a bad way of thinking. But this made me realize that when we stop and really think sometimes there can be a bad type of thinking not bad as in you don’t get a result but bad as in the type of result you get. It was hard for me to barely just get past the different types of thinkers before I started thinking back to the people I know and the teachers I had.…
