The University of Hertfordshire is committed to equipping students with the attributes they need to be successful (University of Hertfordshire, 2016). I will be focusing on creativity as an aspect of professionalism, employability and enterprise. I have chosen creativity, as I believe it allows businesses to stay competitive and is the key way for business to develop, due to it enabling the production of new products to meet the ever increasing wants and needs of consumers across the globe.

Professionalism, employability and enterprise revolve around the idea of giving graduates the ability to complete business tasks effectively and efficiently. Creativity is a skill that is becoming more heavily sought after by business as it is seen as

In 2010, IBM carried out a survey to see how important creativity is. They surveyed 1,500 Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from across the globe that as a cohort voted creativity to be the most important trait required for success (CKGSB Knowledge, 2014). The survey found that creative leaders would invite disruptive innovation meaning that they would encourage others to stop following out-dated processes and take risks. They believe this is one of the main ways in which organisations can deal with their ever changing industries that are getting more and more volatile year on year (IBM, 2010). With this shift in favour of innovation, this opens up more opportunity for graduates that can engage their creative sides. However, creativity requires a group of people to work. This is due to the fact that creativity gives individuals an open-minded ability to use other people’s points of view to shape their actions and in turn generate a creative solution. Creativity therefore allows organisations to stay competitive within their markets and If I’am able to be creative this puts me in great stead to have the opportunity to move up the business hierarchy. As stated by former US Secretary for Defense, Donald Rumsfeld (1974) “The country cannot afford an amateur hour in the White House.” This quote applies to fact that business moves …show more content…
Failure is an important factor as it gives people the ability to reflect back on the events leading up to their failure and work out new creative ways in which they can improve and eventually achieve the aim. In the short term I can do this by putting myself into situations that I’m not used to such as acting in a play.
