Creative Writing: Welcome To Canada

“Why does that sign say, ‘Welcome to Canada’?” It was August of 2017 and we were on our first vacation ever, in Niagara Falls. We had been to the Canadian side of the falls the day before, and we were driving to the New York side to see the Cave of the Winds (A tour where you get to walk in Niagara Falls and see it up close). We were in a long line of traffic, and my mom was looking at her GPS as my grandma drove.

“I can’t just take a U-turn in the middle of the highway!” My grandma

The phrase: ‘Three undocumented minors’. My siblings and I didn’t understand why that was so important.
“We were just here yesterday, but we left our passports at the hotel when we left today, we didn’t know we’d in this situation!”
“Wait, you were here yesterday? That changes everything!” He exclaimed, “You’re all probably still in the system, if I can find your passports, then you guys will be off the hoo-” Suddenly, a loud alarm went off, startling the police officer. He ushered us out of the building, along with the others that were there. We sat for around ten minutes, while the fire alarm kept blaring. We were afraid that we did something wrong, yet at the same time, we were thinking about how great of a story this would make once we got home, Finally, it shut off and we went back inside.
“That’s never happened before!” The officer laughed as we walked back to his desk, “It was a fire alarm test. It won’t take me long to find your information in the system, you guys just need to hang tight for a second.” He typed our names into the computer and waited for a minute while it loaded. “Okay, here we go, he walked over to his printer and grabbed five pieces of paper. “Here you go, these papers have your passport numbers on them.” He said, giving my mom the

Drunken Escapades Intoxicated adults are extremely difficult to babysit and keep out of trouble; especially, when they cause troubling situations that affect everyone. I learned this while helping my boyfriend, Drew, watch his father while his mother, Rebecca, was at work for the night. At the beginning of the night, around five in the afternoon, my boyfriend, Drew, and I decided to take his father, Scot, to Jefferson’s for dinner. This seemed like a harmless idea.…

Like the quiet before the storm, there was another nigh-complete silence, a well-needed respite after the deafening gunfire they had been subjected to; then, the thunderous sound started up again, the crack of Daniel Stoll shooting indiscriminately like a madman. The gang members, surging through this unreliable curtain of bullets, did not pursue their entourage, instead slamming the door shut with a tremendous clamor. It was a bizarre, ridiculous decision. Had they wanted to escape the wrath of Mr. Stoll and his equalizer, it was entirely possible to simply not walk towards the doorway! Instead they pressed forward into a place with no cover to merely shut a door.…

Introduction On a particularly dreary Thursday afternoon, I was driving down a well-known street. One that I drive very often in my many travels. As I was driving down the well-worn road, I came up to a stoplight and prepared to make my right turn, as any good civilian driver would. I set my cell phone down and glanced quickly to my left, decided that my way was clear, and proceeded with my turn.…

It was a tedious night in the office with a profusion of paperwork, and waiting around for for felonious acts to be committed. So as, just to alleviate the monotony in the small room. I remember the how the ring of the incoming call suffused its way throughout the room until all eyes found the source of it. I couldn’t wait to see what vermin we got to clean off of the streets today, for our moral citizens’ sake. I hoped it wouldn’t be a false plea or a call from an official.…

Wind bustled through the branches of the trees, making the leaves howl in their symphony. Walking along the gravel path in the woods makes you realize how intricate the clash between weather and nature can be. Two natural forces both in harmony and constantly fighting.
