Through the mesmerizing eyes of Nicholas Stone, Devina Monroe had experienced her first unnerving brush with death. Although mature enough to accept life's delicate balance and its impending finality, never before had she been rendered so weak. Vulnerable and hopeless; nevertheless, she embraced an overwhelming desire to completely and utterly surrender to a man all that she possessed.

With eyes as dark as a starless night, he effortlessly drew her into his world, revealing his power to captivate, dominate, and devour everything that makes us who we are, and it's done without apology, sometimes slowly but at other times in the blink of an eye.

Incomprehensible as this may seem, Devina soon discovered that Nicholas Stone's exceptionality; however he did not work alone.

Refusing to relent , she tried once more, this time successfully. When she finally opened her eyes and focused, the piercing light of the noonday sun danced across her face, creating a prism of shimmering light.

"Where am I?" she asked, holding her right hand in front of her eyes, attempting to focus on the face of the man leaning over her in a similar way a doctor would a patient.

"You're safe. That's what matters right now," was all the man offered.

Although his deep voice sounded commanding and authoritative, it seemed to mask a reserved, almost nurturing tone lurking just below the surface.

Because he failed to satisfy her frantic curiosity, she questioned him again. "Where am I? How did I get here, and who are you?"

Ignoring her barrage of questions, the stranger conducted a quick but thorough examination of her physical condition. After determining that she was none worse for wear, he gathered her into his muscular, sturdy arms and walked off through the thicket of trees toward a black SUV parked in the
