Creative Writing: The Stalker In Ontonagon

The Stalker in Ontonagon It was a cool summer day in Ontonagon Michigan. As I was sitting on the hood of the silver truck, watching my little cousins play in the grass, little trickles of rain ran down my chestnut brown hair. All of my little cousins were playing “Ghost In the Graveyard” in the soggy grass. After twenty minutes or so all the kids were lying in the soggy grass, exhausted. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a man. Slouched over by the stop sign. He stared at us with these cold, steel eyes. The man wore a red baseball cap, baggy old jeans, and a dirty white t-shirt that looked like it has not been washed for ages. As I was trying to conclude why he would be staring at us a idea dawned on me.
I thought to myself “I wonder if he is a kidnapper?”
It started to make sense to me.
So I said with a serious tone, “Guys, go inside...now!”

Then my dad said with a mean face “your lying to me, what’s your name?” “ Sam Sane” “ Okay Sam I want you to leave this place as fast as you can and do not come back”. Sam went into a dead sprint for the woods and didn’t dare look back. After twenty minutes Sam started to creep up the hill again an all my dad had to do was point at him. Not just any point, a point that shows that someone is not playing around.
Sam once again, sprinted for the woods. My great uncle said to my dad “ got him where you need him” with a grin on his face. Three days passed after the incident. We have not seen a trace of Sam anywhere. I was pretty sure my dad scared the tar out of him. My aunt had made waffles. So we were enjoying the fluffy waffles while all of the little kids rode there bikes outside. When I finished my waffles I decided to go outside. I was trying to get all of the sticky syrup off my hands and then I get a glance of a red cap. with a frustrated voice I said “Oh

A series of small waves pressed the sail boat against the alge dock as his cold and cracked hands desperately yanked on the rope in an effort to raise the sails. Dark clouds had moved in the night before and had stayed overnight providing a refreshing sprinkle of rain every now and then. He looked out over the vast plain of unsettled water and saw one individual white cap rise up among the rest only to be pushed back down. Due to the lack of sunlight the frigid water appeared black and lifeless but he knew that below it was a complex community of different species. He then bent over the side of the boat and reached for its securing ropes.…

Ten years ago on a hot afternoon as my father filled the black twenty-gallon tanks of water, and the roar of the jake brake and the downshifting melody of the passing trucks filled the air. “Mijo ven y detén la manguera en lo que agarro Cambio” my dad yelled. Why me I asked myself as I stomped over to the truck and got farther from the fun. Pump, whish, screech, roar, and melody were sounds that I would hear while I held the lime green hose in place. After my dad had gotten the change in quarters and took over, I joined my cousin and my sister in a game of tag, again and hoped that he wouldn’t call me anymore so that I can continue having fun.…

We were finally packed up and on the road to the big city, where Dad could find more work. After spending years out on the isolated reservation, we needed a change; the five of us, and four dogs were really ready for a bigger house. Although we didn’t even have any neighbors, and were surrounded by desert, we felt like sardines. We didn’t have much money, and our small 750 ft house was just not going to work anymore. Luckily, because we were so broke, we didn’t have too much to load up before the trip.…

My personal Michigan hero is my father. For this essay I chose my father because all my life I have looked up to him, even when I was too young to realize it, because my dad has guided me through life, teaching me valuable life lessons and will always be there for me and my family. My dad has changed so much in his life for my brother and I, spent hours for a day for years raising us to be the people we are today and I could never repay that. At a young age my father’s parents divorced, and he did not see his real father often because he was in the Coast Guard. He then vowed at a young age, and then to his future wife(my mother) that he would never divorce and do that if he had children.…

The Trip to the Grocery Store I haven’t seen him in weeks or maybe even months, I thought as I glared across the small distance between where I was standing and my dad’s car. With my One Direction CD clutched in my hands, I started to close the distance by walking towards his car. I opened the door and slipped in, and then he started to drive to the grocery store. At the time I was under the illusion that my dad would be even slightly happy to see me, but no.…
