Creative Writing: The Murder Of King Duncan

Lennox and I, wearing our royal robes, amble into Macbeth’s stunning castle and gaze in awe at the scenery of their elegant dining room. Sunlight bathes the table filled with striking, fine china and candles melting at a snail’s pace. We both find our seats and wait for King and Queen Macbeth. I glance around the room and observe the décor, when suddenly Lennox addresses me.
“Ross I have something of utmost importance to discuss with you,” he whispered, “but we must make it quick and keep quiet. It is about the King and Queen.”
“What is it Lennox?” I said. “Is there something wrong?”
“Ross, Macbeth is corrupt. There is evidence pointing to him being the murderer of King Duncan. He did not gain this position without the help of demons and malevolence

My King and Queen, are you safe?” I slowly rose up and ask. When I look up at them, Macbeth’s eyes are wide open, and he’s shivering like a leaf in the wind. On the other hand, Lady Macbeth is suspiciously calm, as if this otherworldly occurrence never happened. Lennox and the others rise to their feet and stare at her in confusion. Lennox opens his mouth to speak when she shuts him down. Face red as a tomato, she grit her teeth and sternly said “Do not speak of this situation to anyone!” She rushes Macbeth to a door leading to another castle room. “If you as much note this to the King after he recovers, you shall offend him. Ignore his behavior, or you will face consequences!” We all nod at the Queen and the almost unconscious King before she enters the next room and slams the door shut. The servants and other guests are still shaken up by this strange experience, but they hastily work to clean the destroyed dining room.
While the others are distracted by cleaning and whispering about the traumatizing event, Lennox pokes my shoulder. I look up at him, and he motions his head at another door. Dusting myself off, I follow him to the other room, making sure people don’t see us leave. We walk to a corner of the room where people wouldn’t hear

I grab my head, connecting the dots of his and the Queen’s behavior. “They-they’re murderers…” I trailed off. I can barely keep myself together. “I’ve been serving murderers without knowing. I-I’ve lost complete trust.”
Lennox sighed. “This is exactly what I’ve suspected. Macbeth murdered King Duncan, and most likely many others. In fact, this may be the reason why Banquo has disappeared.” Lennox gets up and dusts off his robes. He offers his hand to me to help me get off the floor. “We have to create a plan to reveal his corruption. I will report the news to Macduff, and he will find a way to reveal this monstrous fiend.”
I clear my throat, trying to gather my thoughts on what way I can assist Lennox and Macduff.” I think I will have to stay here. I need to take the risk of continuously observing the King and Queen. Though I have lost my trust in them, they still trust me as a loyal messenger. Let us find a way to communicate to each other to exchange information.”
I start to leave the room. I turn to Lennox, and point at the door. Before we fully exit the room, I look at Lennox. “Thank you for revealing the truth to me,” I said, “Now we must get back to the dining room quickly before the King and Queen suspect us of

In his play Macbeth, Shakespeare uses plot to showcase the cause and effect relationship between ambition and action. This plays a major part in the main theme of the play, which questions unchecked power and ambition. Macbeth’s power/position goes unchecked for a long period of time in the play; this is not to say that there were not those who wondered whether Macbeth was actually fit to be in charge. This merely shows how rather than taking action sooner, most of the characters who were wary of Macbeth chose first to try and wait things out, all the while Macbeth continued on his quest for more power. A debatable topic that stems from the theme of unchecked power and ambition, is whether or not Macbeth’s ambition to become King was pre-existing…
