Creative Writing: The Marathon

A kingdom founded on fear and ruled by the corrupt has always been the home of Charlie and Katherine and though everyone dreads the week of the Marathon, no one dares to leave. As the week grows closer, the people grow even more afraid, but it's not because of the run itself, but the walls of the maze. No one knows quite how the walls work inside the maze, but if the wrong person were to touch it, they disappear into thin air. This Marathon lasts a total of seven whole days and if you aren't out by day 5, people talk of beasts that appear out of nowhere and chase you until you either die or escape. The question is, what happens to those who neither die nor escape by the seventh
