So we just kept walking along, still hearing the bloody screams. I started to wonder if anybody knew about the fire. That night when we went home, I tried to find something about the fire but couldn’t.

I found one book that could have had some information about the Mill. I asked some kids at school and, they said they didn’t even know there was a fire their.
A couple weeks later with no information what so ever, I went back to the Mill. However I did not go alone. As we walked in the screaming began again. But this time it was worse. And there wasn’t just one scream, but several. Like if there was several people killed then. But ignoring them wasn’t a choice. We kept walking, and then landed in the same spot we did a couple weeks ago, where the message was, but the message wasn’t there. Then we suddenly heard voices. Voices that were scratchy, and deep. We left after that ‘cause that’s all we could

During the early nineteenth century Indians in Southeast Texas told the tale of a “Fire King” that lived under a small lake on the site now known as Sour Lake. The waters of the lake released spouts of gas and if lit they would burn a blue color across the top of the water. These flames are most likely what brought about the legend of the “Fire King.” The people of Texas recited this legend long after the Native Americans were removed from the area.
