Creative Writing: The Interrogation Room

Great Essays
Noelle sat in the interrogation room. The room with that two sided mirror everyone just pretends is a legit mirror. The room where they break down the perps and where cops take family members to tell them, “So-and-so is dead. Condolences. Crappy coffee for the road?” They don’t even offer you donuts for your troubles. Damn budget cuts. At least Juarez didn’t put her in the room where the Sheriff broke the news of her mother to her. I just had to know why, you know?” Harper continued. “I guess Pat answered that question.”
“And Helen the Pig?”
“Pig? No. They were still on Steve the Turkey.”
“In the house?”
“Right on the couch. It had a nauseating pink bonnet. The thing kept pecking me the whole time.”
“The hell is with them and farm animals?” Noelle said. They both laughed.
“I guess we dodged a pitchfork there.”
They fell into silence.
“Juarez said you were in a foster home.”
“Yup. No family tends to do that.”
“You do have family though. I mean, we don’t know each other, but we’re still family. And I wouldn’t mind, you know, filling that damn sewing room his mother keeps trying to force me into.” God, she was terrible at human interactions. This is why she didn’t leave the house. Mark squeezed her hand.
“Plus, we can always use a housekeeper,” Mark said. Harper smacked him in the chest.
“The hell do you think I married you for?” she said.
“My manly good looks and charismatic charm?”
Harper just stared blankly at him.
“Geez. Harsh,” he said.
“So? We don’t have much but I can promise a room of your own and semi edible food,” Harper said.
“You’re serious? You’d take me in just like that?”
“Just like that. If you want.”
“Okay.”

Once upon a time, there was a small, seaside town, along the coast of the vast Pacific Ocean, called Arcadia, and in that small seaside town, there lived a girl named Parker Garcia, who, with the help of some friends and maybe just a little magic, started a revolution that brought love and acceptance to the small town. The small town of Arcadia over looked the pacific ocean from a glorious cliff side that was carved with one of the only freeways in the town. Almost every morning the citizens of Arcadia were awoken at an early hour by the sound of a motor bike ripping along the freeway. Now most people didn’t mind the noise so much as they minded the rider. Parker Garcia was the town’s resident rebel and disliked by a fair few in Arcadia, especially…
