When riding through the city of Julianna into a small district, there is a change in setting, from a typical fast paced city to a utopian upscale neighborhood. There is a plaza on this route and if you blink you could miss it. It includes two concrete columns that appear more as construction debris rather than a typical art installation and an almost castle looking piece of architecture.
The streets around here are all new, redeveloped and reborn. Buildings in the area, to the everyday oblivious passerby are modern and beautiful. Upon entering you move clockwise again and witness many already inside. A single person stands on a small stage in the center and everyone not on the stage simply watches the performance. It’s a small gesture, the person kneels on one knee and holds their hands up at their chest and close to their heart. They bow their head while kneeling and you can almost feel grief and sorrow. But when the person rises back up their arms are slightly spread apart and are far from their waist as if to say, “I am okay and I can do anything”. The person then slowly turns to their left and continues through the journey of this temple. And as that person leaves another goes up and performs the same gesture as the audience watches. Performing the gesture is not scary, not even because you are performing it alone in front of an audience, it is healing. It is a silent pause in life and reflection of those outside invaders who threatened your everyday life. And upon completing the journey and leaving the temple and fortress you feel a new sense of strength and peace, allowing you to face
