She began to back up until her back pressed gently against a large tree. A sharp hoot from an owl caused her to duck and cover her head. She peered up from in between her arms to see the large brown owl staring at her. It had wide yellow eyes that seemed to shine like two large moons*. She couldn’t take her eyes off of the owl’s. It gave her another hoot before flapping its wings and ascending deeper into the forest. She felt this urge to chase the bird, but her legs were frozen in fear. She kept herself in a crouched position until the snapping of twigs stopped. There was another loud sound, similar to the flapping of wings, which caused her to sharply turn into the direction of the sound. Instead of a bird there was a tall dark haired man. His eyes were ice blue and his face was pale. He flashed her a crooked smile which revealed his sharp canines. She could barely move and she knew better than to rush to the knife. The wolf leaped at her which caused her to fall onto her back. The hard ground knocked the wind from her lungs. She gasped for air as the wolf neared her. Her eyes locked with its. It was almost like the wolf was dancing with her motionless body but never did it try and bite at her. “What do you want?” She asked it. Then there was this sudden overwhelming warmth in the pit of her stomach. She felt this strength rush through her and she stood up. The wolf gave her another devilish smile. It struck the wolf causing it to cry in pain. Quickly the wolf turned to smoke and rose into the air, letting one last bellowed howl out indicating it had not yet been killed. The darkness began to fade from the forest. She looked at her fingertips and began to touch them. They were warm from whatever had shot from them. Her eyes went back up to the man that had been impaled by the black goo. The spikes melted back into a blood like substance and he fell to his knees.
