I awoke on a grim and foggy morning. Ten inches of snow laid on the ground, and snow still drifted delicately down. My tribe, the Amorites, were all still sleeping. The visibility was but a few feet, and the atmosphere seemed strange. Something was brewing, but even I did not for-see what would happen on that dreadful day. When the Danes had been shepherded back into their boats, I used the force of my shield to guide them back towards their island. When they were out of sight, I glanced around only to notice that I was the only Amorite remaining. The Danes had killed all off the men willing to help me fight. I knew that I could not reflect solely on that. I had managed to keep the Danes contained at the base of the hill, and by doing so, spared so many lives in our tuath. However, that is a day that forever tore a gigantic piece of our tribe apart. That is the day we lost so many innocent
