“Alright, get up! Wake up!” His voice sounded more piercing than usual.
As she stood frozen next to her little bed, the guard confidently entered her cell approaching slowly, standing face to face in silence, he inched closer. She didn’t move. After picking her already short fingernails until she was bleeding, there was a buzz and the unlocking of her door. Two guards entered.
“Patient 366 follow us”. She stood without hesitation.
“Where are we going”, she said confused as she walked towards the door. No answer. She walked in front of the guards, continuing to pick her fingernails. Looking in and out of other patient’s cells. Most were silent, but in some halls, there was screaming and faint cries. The guards stopped and walked into a small but modern office, she followed. She waited for a while until the door opened quickly and a tall, fat man walked in. He was wearing a black suit and he smelt of peppermint.
“So, Miss”, he paused, “Williams is it”, he said looking through his small spectacles onto a piece of paper. “How are you”, he said with a smile.
She looked at him muddled. “I don’t understand”, she said quietly. “What am I doing here? Why am I out of my cell?”, she said nervously.
