“RUN!”, Kate yelled.

She and Mr. Jacks took off into the woods, ducking at every branch. Each time she looked back, the guards got closer and closer. Her heart was pounding out of her chest. She and Mr. Jacks took a sharp turn and dove behind a bush. After the guards ran by, Kate and Mr. Jacks started running again. They had just escaped from the force field, and were almost free. As they were nearing the edge of the woods, they saw a building. It was an abandoned warehouse, where airplanes might have kept at one point. The guards were not in sight anymore, so they bolted into the warehouse.

As they scanned their surroundings, they quickly realized the warehouse was not abandoned. Inside, it looked like a secret-science laboratory. There

Jacks exclaimed.

They heard a microphone being tapped and Professor Watson started speaking. “Testing 1 2 3. You two are in this force field because you might be carrying the disease. Until we can prove that you are safe, you will stay under quarantine.” Kate and Mr. Jacks looked nervously at each other. “I am sending guards in to take blood samples. If you resist, we will assume you are infected.”

As the force field powered down, the door of the room came flying open and two scary looking men entered quickly. They were extremely tall with long black beards and their eyes hidden by dark goggles. Kate saw them walking towards her first. She tried to move back, but a look from Mr. Jacks stopped her. They couldn’t risk going back. With force the guards stuck a needle in her arm and took her blood. They walked towards Mr. Jacks and did the same. As soon as the guards took Kate and Mr. Jacks blood they, walked out and slammed the door behind them.

While the guards came in carrying mysterious brown boxes, Professor Watson started explaining what’s inside them. “You will remain here as I test the blood. The guards have brought you food and beds. If your smart, you’ll take them.”

Kate glanced back to see what Mr. Jacks was doing and she noticed red blood oozing from his nose. She immediately rushed over to help him. As she was helping him, she noticed something different about him. He is not energetic or happy, as he usually is. They finally got his nose to stop bleeding, and then they got some rest. The next day when Kate woke up, her stomach was hurting. At first she thought it was because she was hungry, but she soon realized that it was a symptom of the deadly disease. Mr. Jacks was getting worse. He could not move around or do simple things such as eat. Later that day, he took a nap and never woke up. Kate had tried to prepare herself, but she was still heartbroken. Mr. Jacks was like a grandfather to Kate. While she was grieving, the guards came bursting through the door, taking his body. Kate heard Professor Watson on the speaker again, “We will examine his body, and then we will bury it in the woods.” Kate is speechless. She doesn’t know what to do. She started feeling sick, which scared her even more. She is not ready to die. There are so many things she wants to do in life, but her last hours of life she has to spend being trapped inside a force field. She can’t even say good bye to her friends or family.
