Creative Writing: Raggedy Old Carrier Plane

Improved Essays
I can’t believe that I got the opportunity to take this trip, but in my opinion this is probably not a good idea because this raggedy old carrier plane probably could never make it across the ocean, if it wasn’t for the fact that the plane only had a small, dirty, and old jeep sitting, collecting dust for what seemed to be years, but the money I had left went into this and my “room” on this island of dreams. After what was hours I felt some turbulence and then a bang, and the plane’s cargo bay door flew open and started to suck everything in the bay out into the open air. Then I slipped and flew out but managed to grab onto the jeep and the I am just falling and I about to hit the grou…. Where am I? The room is so dark and seems to stretch to no end but is only lit with that dingy yellow light …show more content…
As I stood up to check the old home next to the building I had fallen next to, I noticed there were old clothes and bones scattered around, as well as an almost dead lingering smell in the air. The thought of the world being destroyed filled my mind as I searched the house and found an old pair of military style boots and backpack as well as a hat that said West Virginia, but that was the thing that stumped me, I am not from West Virginia I’m from Ohio and it would take days, maybe even weeks to walk to Ohio, but right as I walked out the door a dog barked at me. Then he ran away and without a thought in my mind I cased the dogo for what seemed to be minuets.
Right as he turned the corner I noticed a big sign on the building that we were running by that said James and family truck stop, but the name was changed to Sam and Dogo truck stop. I swiveled my head and noticed the dogo had crawled under the fence and was gone, now my only intentions were to meet this Sam person and find out what is going on in this area. Right before I walked another Inch I heard someone

Most of the time, paper airplanes don’t exactly match other planes. They can either fly upwards, downwards, left, right, or sometimes even straight. No matter what type paper is used, it can never match a professional’s paper airplane. All of this is due to the design of the plane. For example, if the plane is perfectly built but has a round nose rather than a sharp nose, it won’t be able to fly far.…

Panting, I run toward the unmistakable sound of a cargo boat. Once I finally reached the shore my greatest wish came true, a boat finally came close enough to the island I marooned on two years ago when my plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. I was flying with my brother when we hit the water and I think I was the only survivor, I don’t know. The boat is about seven hundred feet of the shore. Relying on instinct I scream at the top of my screechy lungs, but soon find out that that won’t work so I go to my second option ad try to light a fire using two dry sticks and after a while I see a spark and once it grows into a full blown bonfire I see the ship turning towards me and I am overjoyed.…

I realized a great truth on a trip to the Bahamas Ideas like classroom-based learning, the stressed importance of homework, and sometimes boring lectures are expressed daily in schools nationwide. These tedious techniques are nails being pounded into our brains by hammers. Being the son of an educator, I was slightly pressured into believing these ideas were the correct way to learn. An unexpected epiphany occurred after an expedition to Andros Island of the Bahamas. I sit down on the blue cloth seats of the cramped rickety plane that will transport us back to the United States.…
