Creative Writing: Pumpkin

Hi, this is me Pumpkin; well that’s what I’m called at school. I was called that because I always wore a pumpkin carved with eyes so I can see my way. Yes, you heard me a pumpkin, I always wear it, not because I like masks or pumpkins, but I just couldn’t reveal my reality.
My family thought of me as a freak too. The only one I trusted to see my face is my best friend Matthew. Matthew was the kind of guy who kept a good hold of secrets and never told anyone about them. I could tell you the secret myself but I’d rather wait so you figure it out.
I was the kind of kid that likes to teach lessons to people, and the lesson was about everyone out there who gets bullied. I showed less care and less work in class compared to my normal classmates did, I walked in front of them right into a crowd of bullies and as

My friend Matthew said that its time for me to start to take off that pumpkin of my head, but I refused, he said: “wait for another week.”
Most of the time, I could see some of my classmates are standing outside the headmasters’ office next to the bullies. I started approaching them as we all got bullied after that week passed, I took off the pumpkin and revealed myself to the school. Surprisingly, I wasn’t recognised well, they kept calling out ‘A NEW KID’. I responded back saying no I’m the pumpkin kid. For teachers and students who kept asking me who are you. I stuck a label with pumpkin boy on my t-shirt.
At the break, I gathered my friends and went near the same crowd of bullies, and as expected, I was bullied and kicked, wondering why they do this again and again. I told them to listen, although I was kicked and bullied again, but this time I said ‘How much you change or whatever you do to try to put yourself up there are some people who are going to try to push you down. Don’t let that get in your way’. My friends were quite amazed and didn’t know what to

Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past thirty years (on that note, even ten years) acknowledges that the world has changed radically. From the rise and further advancement of computers, to the increasing prevalence of bioengineering, and even something as simple as how people discuss things all demonstrate that this is a radically different world from my parents, my grandparents and my great grandparents. With these innovations, problems both contemporary and archaic have reared their ugly heads; one of the greatest of these issues is bullying. This endearing issue, something in which we all have encountered by some means, and by some form, plays a massive role in our world today. Although it seems like this issue is something with no solution, many resources that have been acquired (from our innovations to the literature that has been created by great minds) prove that there are ideas about how to make this issue cease to exist.…

“Ginger” and “little red” and “copper head” and the ever so famous “carrot top” were just a few of many nicknames that once taunted my childhood. It seemed to be that I did not have a name, but rather I was just “the redhead.” Always sticking out like a sore thumb, I was surrounded by a family of dark brown hair and undoubtedly seemed to be the only child in the class with the uncommon genes of fiery red hair, a galaxy of freckles that covered my body, and the fairest of skin that would burn at the slightest of interaction with the sun. As a result of the little resemblance I share with my family, people often mistaken me for someone else’s child or demanded an explanation.…

Halloween is like a horror movie, except with drunk teenagers instead of axe murders. It was about two years ago, when we were still living in Germany. It was a fairly peaceful Halloween night and the sun was about to set. My friends and I were walking around the village, what Germans call a town. After about half an hour of us walking around and talking, some acne filled, tall, muscular and older, German teenagers came up to us.…

Every inch of the park is transformed into a Halloween lovers’ paradise. As I approach the entrance and get ready to enter a divergent world. It was the first day of the long 180 days of prison known as Hazlet Middle School. I walked in and the smell of body odor and fresh paint slap me like a brick wall. I knew the swirling tornado of teachers and tests has begun. Everyone was still filled with the joy of Summer like a bucket filled with sand. The school was shimmering as bright as a diamond.…

The lowest point of my high school career was the winter of my freshman year. I was the only underclassman that had made the varsity cheerleading squad and that automatically made me an outsider and the upperclassmen made sure I knew that. I was constantly the target of their aggression, even though I never did anything to deserve it. Being powerless in this cheer tyranny, I was forced to silently suffer until I could no longer handle it. One day at practice, I exploded; my mouth was the volcano and my rage was the lava.…

I repetitively used the excuse that I was competing against the smartest students in the city, and that not doing well was to be expected. These low expectations caused my grades to plummet, and with my grades, my self-confidence fell too. By the time I was a sophomore, I was on the verge of failing all of my classes. I fell into a state where I believed that I couldn’t do anything with my life and there was nothing that I could do to change it. This toxic mindset bled into the other aspects of my life, inside and outside of school.…

This is a great online journal entry. Simply for the fact that it relates to my life so much and all throughout my high school years, I was bullied just because I didn't talk to people. Honestly, it was just because I didn't feel comfortable around my classmates. How I am at home is completely different than how I'm at school; Im fun, wild, silly, etc. Why didn't I act the same at school?…

Growing up was not the funniest time for me, I hated elementary school and most of high school. I went to a very small school so my options of friends was very limited. I hung out with the “cool kids” I’d guess you would say. In the movies everyone wants to be a part of the cool kids, but it was not that great. In elementary, kids would make fun of me, they would call me stupid, would tell me I was not good at anything.…
