Creative Writing: Proserpina's Capture

Improved Essays
Proserpina boarded King Pluto’s chariot for the first time, as her six months with her mother, Ceres, had quickly faded. Holding back the tears in her eyes, the wheels on Pluto’s chariot started rotating, for what felt like an eternity. Proserpina shed six tears, one for each month she were to be held captive by Pluto. As the chariot rode off into the dark woods, Ceres fell to her knees, knowing the eternal darkness she would feel as a result of missing her daughter for such a long period of time. She unraveled her baby blue colored sweater from her body, stepped up on top of her wooden bed, and tied the sweater to the loose piece of wood. Using all of her body weight, she leaned back, and the wooden panel went flying across the room, creating a huge ruckus.
Proserpina jumped through the small hole above the door that appeared after the loose wooden panel was removed, and ran as fast as she could. At this point, everyone in the castle was awake, even Pluto himself. She did not know her way around the castle, but had to find it out quickly. Flying through the dining room, she kicked open door after door to find her way out. Looking back at a glance she can spot two guards chasing her. Finally, she spots the large door to the castle, and exits swiftly.
She spots Pluto’s chariot outside the towering castle doors, and decides that it would be the fastest escape method. The wheels slowly started turning round and round, until she was off. As the castle grew smaller behind her, she peered back over her shoulder, only to see Pluto opening the castle gates. Luckily, he had been too late.
“I have escaped the depths of Pluto’s dismal castle” screamed
