For a long time, writing has encompassed my soul. From the young age of twelve writing what I called detective stories, and scary stories, and I would do this for hours. My parents would ask me "why do you write so much?' The only answer I could give them was that I had a mind full of ideas, and stories to be told. From that moment forth I knew fiction writing would become a part of my life. It’s something about scaring people that make horror writing fun, and
I want to go into the Creative Writing program because I am a storyteller, and once you give a storyteller pen and paper it creates magic. However, I want to strengthen the genre of horror writing, which is my specialty. Since genre writing isn’t a big trend for most MFA programs, and I want to change that. The amount of research I put into horror writing is extensive, mastering and modeling from the best Horror writer Stephen King because he has mastered all of the sub-genres of Horror. Therefore going into the Creative Writing program will give me an opportunity to share my ideas, research with other writers. The main purpose of a Creative Writing program is it's going to help expand me as human through my writing.
I chose the Creative Writing program at NYU because of its great reputation, and tools given to writers that

The literary agent that runs the blog contacted me first, and I’m continuing to write for the blog. I’ve also worked as press at book signings, the most recent book signing was for a gentleman who published his first book It happened, It hurt, Now what?. I've conducted what I call a saturation project on the infamous "Nell Crospey" in the town of Elizabeth City, NC. In which I told her story using different elements of fiction. Nell was a part of a murder that has been unsolved to this day. There have been multiple books about her, therefore I thought why not create my own

Joe pulls a dish towel out of the drawer and handed it to me with a hint of a smirk, after I had opened and shut every other drawer in his family’s kitchen in search of just such a dry towel. I spread it out as a drip-catcher for a few measuring cups and stirring spoons, then took a sponge to some more dish. After a quick glance to Joe, then back at the strainer I was scrubbing, I managed to talk to him about the lecture he had given the night before in the library of the Boston retreat house a reading of Flannery O’Connor’s short story, The Enduring Chill. His comments about O’Connor’s work had spun my thoughts the way Flannery O’Connor found it her mission to make scenes, character flaws, and dialects larger than lives to making her message louder and “shout” to…

Writing would never be called my passion; however, if the topic of interest is thought-provoking, writing can be pleasurable. I have always been exceedingly critical of my writing, and I have a bad habit of producing your standard “five paragraph with five sentences” essay. High school was the true test of my writing skills, mainly because I had to take the ACT and SAT with writing if I wanted to get into the only Georgia school that I thought was up to par with my standards: The University of Georgia. Even though my teachers have considered me to be an acceptable writer, I have always considered myself rather subpar. This insecurity about my writing has haunted me throughout my life, and I have this feeling towards writing mainly…

As I grew older I noticed how my grandfather was kind and nice to people, I figured that's how he got people to like him. All of that didn't matter though, it was how he wrote things on paper, how he wrote what would be done and how he would do it. My interest in writing began there. Writing is an essential part of my life, it is needed to get my point across to my family or friends.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes.…

I always admire Confucius’ enlightening ideas and his methods of education, especially for “teaching students according to their aptitude.” I think it’s the best way for a teacher to fully inspire his students and fulfill their potential because every one is regarded as an individual with distinct learning style. From the seminar-conference courses to the donning system, I could feel that Sarah Lawrence College indeed respects its students and cares about them since all of them are given equal opportunities to ask questions or express their own thoughts to their faculties personally. For me, I’ve been looking for this kind of academically close attention so that my voice could be heard and echoed. I know only liberal arts colleges may provide me with this mutual education.…

When entering college and finishing my first essay, I realized my process wasn’t good enough in order to write a good essay. When doing my first narrative and comparing my narrative to the article “Thirty-eight who saw murder,” my process was reading thoroughly over the article and writing a reading report of the reading which it was included in the beginning of my introduction as seen in the image below. Afterwards, I just started finishing my introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. In addition, when finishing my first draft I revised it as well as from my instructor as shown in the black marks below. From the individual conference with my instructor, it is shown in the image that I needed to fix almost my whole introduction.…

My writing process coming into junior year was quite flawed and would go moderately like this: I would try and start with some hook that at least sounded like it related to the topic I was assigned. I then added a thesis that did not sound like total trash that included exactly what I planned to discuss. As I wrote the rest of my essays, I would sometimes realize there was something I felt added to the argument’s appeal, and after adding it to the body paragraphs, I summed it up in a couple words and squeezed it into my thesis. That was about the maximum amount of revising I would do for my essays. My decently crafted essays contained simple diction with a few SAT words I remembered while writing thrown in awkwardly.…

When I began studying at the University of Montevallo, I had a background of high school creative writing and English classes, and one summer of a college English class. To be honest, I was terrified of jumping into my fall English 102 class.
