I can still hear the pilot's voice announcing that we are landing. I can still smell the perfume obtained by the elderly lady next to me. And I can still see myself faking a smile even though in the inside I'm desperate to find out if people speak Portuguese and if every other member of my extended family will be there. Later, I did find out the answer for both of those questions was a resounding no. Suddenly the landing gear extends as the plane makes an abrupt bounce. Next thing I hear is the muffling on the speaker as I make out the words, “The plane has landed’.
