Creative Writing On Drake Stadium

Drake stadium Is so beautiful. When you’re standing in the middle of the field this feeling of importance and accomplishment is overwhelming. My teammates and I are on the line ready for the gun to go off. Our hair is pulled back into tight braids that fade into pink, I can feel a sunburn starting on my scalp. I climb into the blocks and get my practice run through and a sharp pain pulls in my groin. Being the one to start the relay adds a little more pressure, I’m thinking don’t false start, shoot out of the blocks, go hard, keep your arms tucked and now begging myself to forget about my leg. My luck I strain my groin the week before state, my shins had just built up from weeks of hurdling in the halls because the track was currently getting ripped up. …show more content…
My form goes out the window and I revert back to my bad habit swinging my arms out, I’m too close to to the hurdle and my trail leg bumps it but I keep moving and cross the line starting the next leg. The clock seems to count up too slow, this is where all seasons efforts payback. And the finishing finals, Pella, Boone, ___, ADM. I had ran a 17.6, not even close to my best. I failed my coach, and most of all, my teammates. I was disappointed in myself when I walked back to meet up with them but they were all excited, WE HAD GOTTEN 4TH AT STATE! Three years ago, as a freshman, I decided to join cross country. This decision has shaped my high school career through the friends I chose to the activities I participated in. Cross country is not an easy sport, though. It requires physical endurance, but more importantly, the mental strength to push past and overcome the obstacle of pain. By sticking with this sport, mental toughness has permeated who I am and helped me go beyond the standards and work my way through trivial challenges and huge endeavors alike.…

If I can overcome this, I can overcome anything My father had always told me, “A small setback is just only a setup for a great comeback.” I had played football practically all of my life, from Little League Football to High School Football. There has not been a team in the school history to ever win the team title for girls golf. Through trust, hard work, motivation, and a little luck, the 2015 Rochester girls golf team defeated their oppositions and took home a state title. Leaving myself the greatest memory of my High School experience.…

During my junior year I experienced failure. I had taken 3 AP classes and I was in cheer at my high school, and trying to figure out a balance between the two was difficult for me because it seemed like cheer took up a lot of my time and in the past other two years it had, but I had managed to still do well in my honors and AP classes. My junior year was another story, I struggled a lot at the beginning of the school year, and most of first semester was spent with me having an F sometimes more than one, and that was a failure to me because I had my heart set on going to a four college or university and I knew that if i had an F i wouldnt qualify.…

Sixty miles per hour is the speed at which the average softball player throws the ball; so I guess you could say I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I believe I was exactly where I was supposed to be. You know how some people say there was a certain moment that changed their life completely? Well, this was that moment for me, and it all was caused by a miscommunication. Miscommunications happen all of the time, but with a softball that isn't actually soft, and someone standing only 30 feet away from you; well you can already see the implications. At the time, I didn't see what was going to unfold, but I had a bad feeling about what was to come.…

Through life I have learned that worthwhile things cannot be learned in a day; however, bits and pieces of the puzzle can be. I started wrestling in elementary school at Virginia Military Institute and had no clue what impact it would have on my life. I was never passionate about the sport and often tried to find a way to quit but my dad and coaches pushed me to continue. I lost a lot of matches and felt that I would never see much success. I continued wrestling through middle school and still felt like I did not have what it took to be a competitive wrestler.…

In my life time I always been successful and unsuccessful but, one event that I consider to be very unsuccessful was when I didn’t push myself as much as I should have in Cross Country varsity race. I consider this to be one of my biggest failures because I didn’t force myself to keep up with the guy in front of me nor, did I force myself to keep up even with my teammates. I suffered in that race and questioned myself “Why am I doing this? Why do I even run?” I was morally and mentally crushed during this race and it just made me feel even worse when I found out during the race that I was in last place in the entire time I was racing.…

Elite Eight One year ago in the Elite Eight game, the atmosphere was ineffable, it felt like the whole panhandle was in the Eagles Stadium. The atmosphere is nonsensical, two minutes into the first quarter, I receive the ball on second down and make a good deranged play then fall. Four of Tate's Football players fall on my ankle and I roll it. Halftime comes, the trainers rush me to the weight room and tape my ankles up like a box getting shipped off or Christmas gifts getting all boxed up. By the time the trainers got done wrapping me up and giving me the medicine I couldn’t feel a thing at the moment.…
