Creative Writing: Off Road Race

Improved Essays
Every February my family and I attend the Parker 425. The Parker 425 is an off road race. The events of the race start on Thursday and will end on Sunday. The event is located in Parker Arizona. The entire weekend is packed full of excitement and adrenaline.

On Thursday the event will start with the time trials The time trials are how the starting positions are selected. Each of the racers will take turns at running the course. The times are logged and then placed in order from fastest to slowest. These times are the order in which the racers will start. The next event to occur on Thursday is my favorite of the day. It is the downtown experience. The entire downtown is shut down to vehicles. The streets are lined with vendors who are selling food, drinks, and different styles of racing gear. The pit crews of the racers all get together to compete in the pit crew challenge. In the challenge the crews are timed on how long it takes them to service the car. This event really gets the crowd going and ready for Fridays events.

The racers will have a chance to get registered for the race. They will then attend the racers meeting which goes over all the rules of the race. The last part of Fridays events is what the audience looks forward too. Contingency usually occurs in the afternoon into the evening. The parking lot of the casino in town is filled with racers and their off road vehicles. People fill the parking lot meeting racers and seeing the vehicles up close and personal. Just like the downtown experience there are lots of different vendors. Sometimes if you are lucky one of the racers will start their vehicle. The rumbling of the engine is felt throughout your body. This feeling is just the beginning of what is felt on race

The people they interviewed knows how dangerous it is and because of this majority of them have set rules of racing for example never racing busy streets day or not, or never race with someone in the car. These racers would never put someone else’s life in danger other than their selves because they know its dangerous. Most of the races also mention that they would go to the “sticks” which is their term of the countryside and would race their since people are not usually in the area.…
