Echo walked downstairs to the living area after getting ready for the day. She saw Rayne and Calliope sitting in the chairs with bags next to them. “Are you going somewhere?” Echo asked them. “Actually, we are all going somewhere!” Calliope said bursting with excitement. “Well, by all she means you, her, me, and Quinn. We are starting our journey to Nova’s castle. You and Quinn have greatly improved your powers and we think you’re ready,” Rayne said. “When do we leave?” Echo asked excitedly. “Well, these bags are just for the glorious thing we call food. We are spending the rest of the day packing,” Calliope said. “Then we will leave as early as we can in the morning. It should take about a day to get to our halfway mark to stay for …show more content…
With a quick glare from Rayne, Calliope stopped. “Do you want me to go tell Quinn?” Echo asked. At Rayne’s nod, Echo went up the spiral staircase to the hallway in which she and Quinn’s rooms were and she knocked on Quinn’s door. “Just a second,” Quinn yelled from the other side.
There were some footsteps, then Quinn opened the door. “Hey, what’s up?” she asked. “You need to pack. Tomorrow we are leaving for Nova’s castle. Calliope and Rayne said that we’ve improved so much that we’re ready to fight,” Echo said excitedly. “Really?” Quinn asked. Echo responded with a vicious head nod. They both cheered and jumped up and down. “We’re acting like three years olds,” Echo laughed. “Okay, I’m going to pack, you need to do the same. There is probably a bag somewhere in the bottom of your wardrobe,” Quinn said as she slowly nudged Echo out of her room. Echo got back to her room and started packing, later Quinn joined her in her room and they were both finished by the midday meal. “I think it’s about time to eat,” Echo said, putting her finished bag on the chair in the corner of the room. “Yeah, let’s go,” Quinn said, walking to the door. “Do you think we’ll get some sort of cool outfit or costume?” Quinn asked

Rayne nudged Calliope’s arm. “Make an announcement about us leaving,” he said to her. “No, you do it, I’m eating,” Calliope said while chewing her food. “I did it last time, though,” Rayne whined. “I can do it,” Echo said, cutting in. Echo had gotten more comfortable about speaking to people since they had become more open to having her with them. She stood up and walked to the head of the table. Everyone started to become quiet when they noticed she was there. “Calliope, Rayne, Quinn, and I are going to be leaving early tomorrow morning, in hopes of defeating our current empress, Nova. We don’t know how long we will be gone, but we have decided to leave Evelynn the Elf in charge. If you need anything, she knows almost everything about this house,” Echo said. Evelynn beamed with joy as she heard the announcement and went over to hug Echo. After their meal was finished, the four met in the living area. “We’re finished packing,” Quinn said happily. “Do you have any extra room?” Calliope asked with a smirk. “Because I have costumes!” she said enthusiastically, throwing a zipped bag on the table. Both Echo and Quinn burst out laughing. “What?” Calliope asked,

After the dust settled…after months of sinkless and toiletless rooms. After piles of broken sheet rock and crumbled white powder covering every cement floor. After staring at exposed electrical wires jutting this way and that; and sill plates, anchor bolts, sole plates and studs; and water-stained skeletal wooden framing and floor joists. After all of the air compressors, nail guns, paint sprayers, discarded tiles, end pieces and left over pieces of wood had been removed. After the professional cleaners had come in and scrubbed and mopped and vacuumed and polished.…
