My lungs were ignited, heart stammering, every muscle threatened to cramp. If I had even stopped running, I would’ve met my demise.
Everywhere around me were kids bolting towards the same place I was headed to, safety. Sirens were banging on my eardrums and I forced myself to run faster. I needed to get to the door before it closed. The cell doors started rattling, knew they were closing. If I didn’t make it their in time, then I would be history. An unknown hand grabbed my arm and pulled me back. I lost my balance and twisted my ankle. I fell to the ground screaming in agony. All I could see were the inmates running past me, some even spat on me. I didn’t look back to see what was behind us, I didn’t need to. It was already so vivid in

His hands were sweaty and thick. He had a blood stain on his shirt and his jeans were ripped in some areas. “What?! Do you not realized what just happened?! You act as if this is normal!” “You must be a nitwit.” Red responded, still panting heavily. “Nitwit?!” “It’s a term for newcomers to Raz. Find us a cell and I’ll grab us some food to eat. I’ll explain to you everything there.” Red got up and held out a hand. I took it and he pulled me up. My legs were still shaky from what just happened, but he patted me on the back and pointed to an open cell. I walked to the cell he had pointed to, trying to claim it before anyone else would have. As I walked there, everyone I came across stared at me. I was the new guy here, but they looked like they wanted me dead. I walked into my cell and sat down on the bed. The room was so isolated, there was only one bed and a toilet seat in the corner. “Hey nitwit, this is our cell. Get out.” I turned and saw a group of kids with shivs. They all had tattoos of the roman numeral two, burnt marks, stab wounds, and some even had a missing eye. “Uh, I already claimed this cell.” “We don’t care, we always claim this cell when we get to safety. …show more content…
Even though I’ve only been here for a day, I could not wait to get out of this place. It only took us a couple minutes to arrive to our destination. Red showed us a circle on the ground and lifted it. I looked underneath and found a dark passage way with barely any water. It didn’t look like a sewer. How could I sewer be under an underground prison? I didn’t really care too much. I just wanted to get out of this place. As I was about to jump into the hole, I hear a growl behind us. Red turns around and is only a couple centimeters away the face of a Vermin. It was hideous. I was about to barf as it stared Red down. “RUN!” Red yelled at the top of his lungs. I turned around and ran, I didn’t know where to go. I was headed to safety, hoping the cell door was still open. Red was behind me and there were multiple Vermins behind us now. “HEAD TOWARDS THE SAFETY, I’LL GET RID OF THESE GUYS, GO!” “WAIT WHAT, NO!” I wasn’t going to let Red handle these Vermins by himself. “DON’T ARGUE WITH ME! JUST RUN TO THE SAFETY, IT’S STILL OPEN.” I then saw Red take a different path and he was gone from my sight. He left me with two Vermins. I saw the cell door, and I knew I could make it. That feeling of my lungs burning showed up again. The cell door started to click and slowly close. I looked behind and the Vermins were closer than ever. I knew I couldn’t stop now. The cell door was so close to being closed now. I jumped at the last second and I hear a

I look through the thick cold glass of the Fargo county jail house. On the other side, a man that I had known my entire life was now unrecognizable. His eyes were bloodshot from a lack of sleep as he sat in the chair before me as if he was on death row. At the time I thought my uncle was giving up on life, I've never seen a man so low then when he sat across from me in the prison that day.…

The adrenaline was pumping through my veins and I couldn’t stop despite the fact that my lungs felt as if there were icy shards lodged in my chest. Haunted figures of the men that destroyed my life as I knew it flashed before my eyes as I lept over crates and pushed down trash cans behind me, my path marked by a riddled maze of rotted food and old possessions. The tears in my eyes were no longer tears, but streaks of moisture…

“It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen,” (Wooden John) This quote is very true to me because of what happened to me after a long day of fencing in Dallas Texas during the summer of 2016. Nervousness griped my heart harder than my younger brother who was gripping hand so tightly that I was sure his knuckles were whiter than ebony.…

When I knew the raccoons were following me, I ran as fast as I can and I didn’t look back at all, for I don't slow down and took a little break but not a big one because they might be not far from me. When I saw that I was somewhere else than the woods on the river I looked back and I saw the raccoons were not behind me, but that was what I thought because I know that sometimes they could be smart so I didn’t go back there cause the raccoons might be there. So I tried to go the way that I was running through so I went in that direction, but I was thinking to myself is there going to be more monsters over there because then I would rather go in the direction that I left because of the raccoons. But I decided that I will go in the direction…

I had the all too real choice between staying awake to live and going to sleep to die. As I stared at the swirling shapes on the wall, I contemplated whether it would even be worth it to fight. I called, as I had done to no avail many times before, for someone to help. Either they could not hear me or they did not care to help. As my eyes started to sag, I thought of never waking up.…

Then they took me to the cell with a plaque to the side of it reading ‘943’. There was a window the size of a hand on the cell door, two benches with thin padding on it on each side of the cell, and a gray shiny toilet. The walls felt like they were closing in on me. I asked the man how they knew where to find me and he said your parents called and said you made it home, so we rushed to get you. He also added that it was stupid of me to run, because I was in trouble already.…
