Lilly walked down the hospital ward to see her brother, who was still unconscious, thanks to his concussion. Bandages covered his right eye and most of his head, leaving his left eye, mouth and nose as the only thing that could be seen on his face. His body lay as still as death, hands over his chest, a tube in his throat, to feed him when necessary. Lilly shivered at the sight of her injured brother, so still, unlife like. He seemed like an object instead of a kind and loving brother that she knew him as. She walked to the end of his bed, no one else had come to see him, just Lilly, his half sister. Her family was to afraid to see him in this state. They were ashamed of what he had done with his life. He had joined the army, went to war and …show more content…
All her friends, are out of the country or have gone into the air force or the navy, while her family hid away in the shadows, hoping to never come out until the war is over. Lilly on the other hand knows that this war isn’t going to be over in just a couple of years, it may last decades, decades of fighting, loss of life, suffering. Lilly needs to experience how hard it is going to be, to help the ones around her. That is her job, to help the ones in …show more content…
“I just want you to know that I,” A tear dripped down her nose onto Adam's hand, “I love you, I still care. I know I have ignored you for years but, I still love you as my brother. As my friend.” She wiped her wet face with her sleeve. Lilly sat on the bed next to her brother and watched as he inhaled and exhaled with great difficulty. “Please, just wake up. I need you here.
