Creative Writing: Jensen's Freakout

Jensen’s Freakout Over Christmas break I watched my nephew Jensen a lot. He lives about a quarter mile away from me, and his mother, my sister, works from around eight in the morning to three in the afternoon, so she needed somebody to watch him and it was convenient for me to be that person. Jensen is almost three years old, but he has something I never had as a child...dentophobia. Dentophobia is a fear of dentists and being at the dentist's office. I had no clue of his fear, until it was time for him to get his teeth checked and I had to go with him. When we walked into the Dentist's office everyone greeted him like they knew him, I didn’t think much of it at the time but looking back I realize they probably knew him because he’d made a big fuss before. He was all smiles and laughs when we were in the waiting room. They even had iPads on the walls for kids to play on while they wait, and Jensen had his head in the device. They called his name and right then was when he started acting up. He …show more content…
The doctor came in, then she talked to Jensen and tried to get him acquainted with her again. Jensen seemed like he was about to be a big boy and get it done, then when the doctor told him to open his mouth for the X-ray he just wouldn’t do it. We tried and tried to get him to, but after about fifteen minutes the doctors asked me and my mom if we were okay with them forcefully opening it, and we said it was. Jensen screamed and screamed until he gave everyone in the room a headache. The doctors were miserable dealing with him. His behavior really surprised me, mainly because he was such a good kid when he wasn’t at the dentist. It took about two minutes to get the X-ray overly with, and after Jensen got a toy. The dentist told us we were going to have to do an X-ray on the other side of his mouth too, but almost right after the told us that the lights shut off. The power went out at the dentist’s

The sniper grabbed the knife from his pocket and cut his brother out of his gear. He then grabbed the whiskey from his pocket, poured it on the wound to cleanse it, and cut off a piece of his sleeve to wrap around the wound in order to stop the bleeding, in denial that he was actually dead. It’s very rare that this particular sniper was ever phased by anything. He stepped back a bit, horrified by the gruesome visual he would never be able to remove from his mind, ingrained in his thoughts, for every day, every hour, every waking moment from dawn ‘til dusk, and into the depth of night for as long as the sniper lived.…

The world around a child is a wondrous and expansive place in which many queries and faults can arise, I observed this very situation on Thanksgiving night with my younger cousin Sebastian Otenti. Sebastian is 3 years old and his mind reflects the inexperience he holds, this inexperience makes him special and garners amazement from me at every turn. I began observation of Sebastian about an hour before dinner was served to everybody so at this point appetizers were still being displayed and people were just mingling around him. I kept my observations to myself, never interfering with what he was doing and never informed him I was watching, although I did tell his parents. Sebastian is young boy with two younger sisters, one of which has cerebral palsy.…

Working with him post-surgical repair was to increase intelligibility through practicing different sounds in sentences, blends, and in isolation. To help with his hyper-nasality, they put a straw next to his nose while he spoke to help him and the clinician measure how much air he lets escape through his nose. When the client first arrived, he was allowed to talk for a few minutes about his day. He is clearly very social, outgoing and intelligent, so talking about his day was a highlight for him.…

CHAPTER NINE The Invasion of the Ugly Ogres We felt our way along like three blind mice through the morning mist until at last we emerged from the fog and found ourselves encircled by harsh wind, gritty dust, and weeds. Which felt like tiny needles against my skin and caused my lips to crack as we wandered in silence. Suddenly the wind petered out and the weeds erupted in high-pitched shrieks. I stopped, drew my sword and the shrieks ceased.…

I stood amongst the crowd of people who had gathered to see what the commotion was; most recoiled in disgust at the sight of him. There lay a woman, whom no one had known well, but who had approached all who roamed the streets. Her face was pale—paler than mine, even—covered with thick layers of makeup that hid the wrinkles of her skin. The police would not expect me; I was masterful in my disguise.…

The outside of the castle with its gargoyles and being surrounded by dead tress made it look like it was owned by Dr. Frankenstein, but the interior looked like something out of an expensive catalogue. The old man bid me farewell, and I started walking away from his castle into an unknown forest overflowing with creatures I couldn't possibly understand. A slight breeze pushed through the forest causing the few remaining leaves that hung to the trees to plummet to the ground. My feet became buried in a grave of orange, red, and yellow leaves as I kept my gaze pinned to the map since I had no idea where I was going. The sounds of animals running through the bushes filled my ears I tried to pretend the sounds were coming from rabbits scurrying…

Going to the dentist can be the most terrifying thing for some people. Many studies have proven that people would rather take the pain of gum disease ,or even a broken tooth rather than stepping into a dental office. The noisy tools, scary instruments, and the thought of the dentist drilling into the teeth doesn’t make it any better. Dental anxiety and phobia are very common today; it is estimated that about 9-15 percent of Americans fear the dentist. Regardless of the fear and anxiety accompanied by visiting the dentist, many are aware of the importance and the impact it has on living healthily.…

I tried to go into the patient’s room every hour to check on her and each time I went she seemed exhausted. During most of my interaction with the patient I would ask her how she was feeling and assess her pain level. During our interaction mentioned above the patient stated she had a pain of 4/10 and said she was feeling “okay.”…
