Improved Essays
Interrupting her thoughts, Danny asks her, “How is Jesse doing?”
Her mind had wandered elsewhere and made a quizzical face almost completely forgetting about Jesse. She unconfidently answered, “Um… He’s doing well, I believe.”
Danny notices her struggling and changes the subject, “How about we get started because our first debate is coming up soon.”
After their meeting she decides to go see the last few minutes of Jesse’s practice because she does feel bad for missing it. When she arrived he was strolling to the locker room with his buddies.
“Jesse?” she said softly.
He turned around and made a confused expression. “What?” he asked with anger on the brink of his voice. “You don’t come to my practice yet you can show up after it’s over. You know I have plans tonight. We’re cruisin’ for a bruisin’, am I right boys?” he pointed at his buddies and laughed with a smirk.

She became fed up with the choice of tone he used to talk to her with, so she turns around and leaves without saying another word.
“Come on, baby. Don’t act like that and walk away. Come back.” She continues walking and doesn’t look back. Not even once. “Fine. Whatever. Talk later, Miss Independent.”
As she exits the school with her eyes welling up with tears, she bumps into Kenneth.
“Oh my goodness. I am sincerely so sorry,” he thoughtfully said. Evett looked up at him with sad, kind eyes, saying nothing. Knowing something was wrong with his new friend he asked with great concern, “Are you okay?”
At this point Evett is wiping tears from her cheeks and answers with, “Yes, of course.”
Knowing she isn’t telling the truth he decides to try and cheer her

Standing on the curb, Veronica pulled her jacket tighter against the breeze, and exhaled the slightest bit when the charger came into view. Through the car’s heavy tint, she couldn’t see the driver exactly, but the effortlessly smug look from the driver’s seat when she climbed in was instantly familiar. Hands at her sides, feeling the seat’s leather as he peeled away from the curb, Veronica had to miss the bike, a little. Sure, the threat of death rang less imminent, even in the seat termed ‘shotgun,’ but oddly enough, sharing a console felt more intimate than the physical proximity of sharing the motorcycle. “Are you gonna tell me what this is about?”…

It had been a few weeks since your parents died in a tragic plane crash, though you didn’t feel all that sad. Of course, you were slightly upset, but it wasn’t that bad. Your parents had never really built an emotional bond with you. They were more like dictators, they forced you to be the three P’s: posh, proper, and polite. When you wanted to play outside with the other kids, they shook their head in distaste, your mother telling you that’s not what ladies do.…

Saved by a Swan “Shhh,” members of the Son’s of Liberty whispered as they approached, or moved closer to, the large ships filled with the 342 chests of tea. The Sons’ of Liberty, an organization started to protest the Stamp Act or a law that placed taxes on printed material, were dressed in black clothing with a Donald Trump mask. With his corn-colored hair, orange popsicle skin, and his puffer fish lips, Donald J. Trump was able to startle anyone. The Patriots, or colonists who supported the war for independence, were walking quietly throughout the ship looking for any loyalists or people who choose to stay with Britain, aboard. Suddenly, out of nowhere a man jumps up and attacks Samuel Adams, the man who started the Sons of Liberty organization.…

I studied the girl sitting in the grass next to me. Her fingers brushed lightly over the dewy grass; the movement was so gentle that I almost attributed it to the light breeze blowing through the trees far above. The fluttering of the leaves caused the shadows on the forest floor, spawned by the faint sunlight of the approaching dawn, to dance serenely. The sky was dotted with streaks of pink and purple as the sun began to rise above the horizon. I watched the girl, whose name I had only recently learned to be Cira, slowly run her finger over a small white flower.…

As darkness loomed overhead, Kayte hastily traveled through the forest, never more than a few feet from the road. Her curly blond hair flowed down to her shoulders as she went along, while her expressive hazel eyes gazed out from the center of her attractive face. She was a small creature, barely 5.4 in height and stature. Simply clad in a leather travel outfit, she hurried through the rain, as the sky continued to darken. She shivered at the thought of spending the night in these woods.…
