It was just before 9:00 on a rainy Autumn morning as I drove up the muddy gravel drive of Baker Logging on the outskirts of Manchester, Tennessee. The outside of the green metal building appeared fairly new, as I walked in, I noticed the smell of lumber faded to a mixture of grease and pumpkin spice candles. It was almost as chilly inside as it was outside, only dry. The desk was full of paperwork and behind it sat Mr.Baker. He appeared almost as I had pictured him, only cleaner. He was wearing blue jeans, a casual brown t-shirt with a pocket, a black hat with a spotted saddle horse on it, and muddy work boots. You could see his passion grow the more in depth we got of how logging is done. He have me a tour around his entire building, showing me what each piece of equipment was for. The most fascinating piece was the large orange STIHL chainsaw with jagged rough edges of chain circling it that he brought out, he said it was the main tool of getting his job done since it was used to cut trees. Loggers also use, cables and chokers to move the logs in an assembly line fashion after being cut, and skidders for the clearing and lifting cut
